Kell Brook Vows To Beat Devon Alexander

By Neil James: Kell Brook has insisted that he will not be fazed when he faces IBF champion Devon Alexander, the pair will meet next month in America and the undefeated Brook who is seen as the underdog, believes that he will be victorious in Detroit.

The Sheffield fighter will be tested at élite level for the first time, Alexander has already won titles at two different weights, where this will be Brook’s first opportunity at a world title.

“It’s the first time in my career I’ve been the underdog but it doesn’t matter to me,” the 26-year-old said.

“He’s the champion and people are expecting him to keep the title but we know differently. I’m going to show him – and the world – why people call me the Special One.

“This is the fight, the one I’ve dreamed of and the one I’ve trained for and there’s no way I’m not coming home without that title.

“There’s certain things that have happened in my life and it’s destiny, it’s just meant to be.”

Kell Brook is not intimated about going to Alexander’s backyard to fight, and understands most of the crowd will be cheering on his opponent. Brook believes that the hard work he has put in to his training camp will help him become a world champion and will make the victory that much sweeter by beating Alexander on his own patch.

“I’m going over to his backyard but I wouldn’t want it any other way,” he added.

“Going to the champion’s country and taking his title off him on his own patch is going to feel so good. It’s going to be the icing on the cake going there to do the business.

“I’ve got to do whatever it takes to win, whether that’s make it a dogfight or a technical fight. Whatever happens in that ring, the job will get done.

“I’m getting more confident by the day and by February 23 I’ll be a man on a mission.”
