Moving On From Long

Richie Incognito didn’t want Jake Long to leave

By Aaron Herman: As entertaining as the last few days have been, watching Richie Incognito trying to woo back Jake Long to the Miami Dolphins throughout the twitterverse, the decision is in, and Long is off to St. Louis.

Whether it was the money or the change of scenery he was looking for, the fact of the matter is that the decision has been made, and the Dolphins need to go to plan B.

Many fans may be disappointed with what happened, with Richie included, but this may be something that can help the Dolphins in the long run.

While they still have a gaping hole at offensive tackle, they also have a stash of cash that is now free to be used somewhere else.

The first step needs to be addressing the tackle position, and I believe that Eric Winston is on speed dial in Jeff Ireland’s phone, waiting for this very moment.

The Jake Long Dilemma

long

By Aaron Herman: The past five days have been very exciting for many Miami Dolphin fans as the front office has finally followed through on their promise to be aggressive this off-season.  They were able to nab their number one target in Mike Wallace, thought by some to be the top free agent available.

This was a huge accomplishment, because it showed that Miami is a place where the big names want to be again.  Jeff Ireland was also able to steal Dustin Keller from the Jets, filling a huge need for the Dolphins while simultaneously hurting the rival Jets.  The linebacker core was even transformed to become younger, faster, and cheaper.

It seems like the Miami Dolphins are finally starting to close the gap between themselves and the powerhouse Patriots who have had a stern hold on the AFC East over the past decade.

Why the Miami Dolphins Must Sign Mike Wallace

Mike-Wallace-2

By Aaron Herman: It is no surprise to anyone that there are widespread rumors across the internet revealing that the Miami Dolphins are interested in Mike Wallace, soon to be a former wide receiver of the Pittsburg Steelers.  The Dolphins have repeatedly said that they need to bring play-makers to this team, and with Wallace’s speed, he is the definition of a play maker.

If the Dolphins are able to sign Wallace this off-season, it would give them a WR core of Wallace, Hartline (assuming he re-signs which is looking more likely), and Bess. It turns a WR group that was a laughing-stock last year, into one that will make Ryan Tannehill salivate and strike fear into the rest of the AFC East (especially if the Jets lose Revis).

The Man Holding the Keys to the Miami Dolphin’s Future

The Man Holding the Keys to the Miami Dolphin’s Future

By Aaron Herman: Last year the Miami Dolphins played the Oakland raiders early in the season and along with many other Dol-fans I was overjoyed by the outcome.  However, the real reason behind my exuberance was that this win meant the Dolphins wouldn’t go winless, something that was a real possibility based on some analysts opinions at the beginning of the season.

A win before November was something we weren’t able to witness in 2011, and with a 2012 off-season matching the excitement level of a funeral, it is needless to say expectations were not very high.
