Finn Allen’s 66 Helps Lightning To Much-Needed Win

Friday’s T20 blast action saw a blistering opening partnership by Finn Allen and Keaton Jennings for Lancashire, Yorkshire becoming the latest team to be destroyed by the bat of Alex Hales in a rain-affected game and a final-ball thriller between Durham and Derbyshire.

We also look at yesterday’s second One-Day international between England and Pakistan from Lord’s.

England vs Pakistan

Pakistan won the toss and elected to field first in a game that was reduced to 47 overs.

Dawid Malan would be caught by Shadab Khan off the bowling of Hasasn Ali without scoring before Zak Crawley would be bowled by Shaheen Shah Afridi for a golden duck. Phil Salt would be bowled by Saud Shakeel for 60 before James Vince would be bowled by Khan for 56.

Ben Stokes would be bowled by Ali for 22 before John Simpson would be dismissed the same way for 17. Craig Overton would be caught behind by Mohammad Rizwan later in the same over without scoring before Lewis Gregory would be caught by Fakhar Zaman off the bowling off Haris Rauf for 40. Brydon Carse wouldbe bowled by the sme bowler for 31 before Saqib Mahmood would be caught by Rauf off Ali for 8 – Matt Parkinson finishing off 7 not out.

Imam-ul-Haq would be caught behind by Simpson off the bowling of Greogry for 1 before Babar Azam would be LBW to Mahmood for 19. Rizwan would be caught by Simpson off the same bowler for 5 before Zaman would be bowled by Overton for 10.

Sohaib Maqsood would be caught by Simpson off the same bowler for 19 before Khan would be caught by Parkinson off Gregory’s bowling for 21. Simpson would also catch Faheem Ashraf off Parkinson’s bowling for 1 before Ali would be caught by Overton off Carse’s bowling for 31 off 17 balls. Shakeel would be caught by the same fielder off Parkinson for 56 with Rauf the last man out for 1, caught by Simpson off Gregory, with Afridi 18 not out.

The two teams meet in the final ODI game at Edgbaston on Tuesday with England leading the series 2-0.

Worcestershire Rapids vs Birmingham Bears

Worcestershire would win the toss and elect to bat field.

Riki Wessels would be bowled by Will Rhodes before Brett D’Oliviera would be caught by Adam Hose off the same bowler for 45 off 25 balls. Jake Libby would be caught by Ryan Sidebottom off the bowling of Craig Miles for 18 before Ross Whiteley would be bowled by Sidebottom for 4.

Ed Barnard would be bowled by Rhodes for 7 before Ben Cox would be caught by Sam Hain off the same bowler for 43 off 28 balls in the final over with Ben Dwarshuis 12 not out.

Derbyshire won the toss and elected to field first.

Ben Raine would be caught by Luis Reece off the bowling of Matt Critchley for 32 before Cameron Bancroft would be caught by George Scrimshaw off Thomson’s bowling for 20.

Scott Borthwick would be bowled by the same bowler for 33 before Ed Eckersley would be dismissed later in the same over for 2. An opening partnership of 112 between Finn Allen and Keaton Jennings saw the Lightning most of the way to the target before Allen was caught by Cobb off the bowling of Nabi for 66 off 37 balls with Davies the other wicket to fall, caught Nabi off Freddie Heldreich’s bowling, for 7 – Jennings (54 off 41 balls) and Dane Vilas (9) the not out batsmen.

Yorkshire Vikings vs Notts Outlaws

Yorkshire won the toss and elected to bat first in a game that was reduced to 7 overs a side due to rain.

Harry Brook would be stumped by Tom Moores off the bowling of Samit Patel without scoring before Adam Lyth would be caught by Steven Mullaney off the bowling of Dane Paterson for 26. Jordan Thompson would be caught by Patel off the same bowler for 28 with Matthew Waite 3 not out.

Notts would make easy work of the target with openers Peter Trego (29 off 13 balls) and Alex Hales (31 off 9 balls) seeing them home with almost half of the overs remaining.

All 18 counties are playing in the final round of County Championship games before the teams go into their second phase groups (top 2 in each group go into Division 1, 3rd and 4th go into Division 2 with the bottom two going into Division 3) before playing the final Blast games next weekend.
