Super Giant’s look to return to winning ways against Daredevils
Batting heavy weights Rising Pune Super-giants would be looking to get back on track after their 6 wickets loss to Kings XI Punjab away when they will take on Delhi Daredevils at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Gahunje here on Tuesday.
As IPL is in its early days, Rising Pune Super-giants will be pretty happy with one win and one loss in their kitty and would be keen to make the winning count to 2 later tonight. While on the other hand Delhi who has played only a single game in this IPL lost to RCB while chasing a mere target of 158 due to sloppy batting performance by the top order.
While the Rising Pune Super Giants are considered favorites against the Daredevils it is their top order who needs to fire to turn this game into their favor. Rising Pune Super-giants had started wonderfully in this season by beating the mighty MI at home but they failed to keep on the winning streak.
Interestingly the Daredevils led by the experienced Zaheer Khan have locked horns with the Rising Pune Super-giants on numerous occasions but are yet to beat captain Steve Smith’s men in the Indian Premier League.
Rising Pune Super-giants have a formidable batting lineup with the likes of Ajinkya Rahane, MSD, Steve smith and Ben Stokes into the side. They have the capability of chasing down big scores which they have already showed while chasing against Mumbai where they chase down 184 with one ball to spare. Captain Steve smith led from the front and scored a brilliant 54-ball 84 while Rahane set the platform with a quickfire 34-ball 60.
However it is their bowling which has led them down in-spite of brilliant performances in batting. None of their bowlers have been impressive till date and have failed to contain the batsmen in the death overs in both matches so far.
On the other hand despite restricting RCB to 157 for eight, Daredevils batting line-up failed to chase down the target, managing 142 for nine wickets in their 20 overs slot.
Delhi Daredevils bowlers were right on their money against RCB. Both Zaheer (2/31), Chris Morris (3/21) and Pat Cummins (1/29) were impressive with the new ball, while domestic season’s highest wicket taker, left-arm spinner Shahbaz Nadeem (1/13) shone in the middle overs.
The 158-run target should have been an easy chase for Daredevils but their top-order fumbled. Risabh Pant, who showed nerves of steel, led the one side fight for the Daredevils and top-scored for Daredevils with a 36-ball 57 days after losing his father.
Rising Pune Super-giants who will be going as the favorites in today’s match but it would not be wise to undervalue the Daredevils too. After all one needs to keep in mind that Daredevils had finished two place higher than Rising Pune Super-giants in the last IPL and hence it will not be an easy affair for the Rising Pune Super-giants.
