Wayne Rooney: We Can’t Afford To Slip-Up

United have a 15-point lead over City and a win could effectively hand the title to United, with only seven games left of the season Rooney is taking nothing for granted, especially as City snatched the title away from United last season, which went down to the final game.

“One bad game and everything could fall and so we go out and play each game with a positive attitude,” Rooney told the Daily Mail.

“We have to stay focused. We have to make sure we keep doing our job and keep our concentration.”

AVB looking to sabotage Liverpool’s top four chances

By Callum Pritchard: Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas is hoping to put a complete stop to Liverpool’s slim hopes of claiming a top four space today when his Spurs team face a much improved Liverpool team, and insists that Thursday’s demolition of Inter Milan will not have an effect on the team.

Prolific Red Luis Suarez has urged his team to put everything they have into this match, with three points potentially vital if they are to catch up to third placed Spurs to keep them in contention for a Champions League spot. United landed what many believe was the knockout punch at the weekend by surging into a 12-point lead — the biggest this season — over City, the beaten and bruised challenger.

Even the Premier League’s incessant PR machine is struggling to hype this one up.

Alex Ferguson’s assessment that United is in a “fantastic position” looks to be the understatement of the century. His team is unbeaten in 14 matches and has the hottest strike force in the league. No team has blown such a big lead at this stage of a season?

Roberto Mancini: Success The Process

Roberto Mancini: Success The Process

Roberto Mancini: Success The Process

By Saxon Bosworth: Roberto Mancini has been at the helm of Manchester City for the past three years, honoured for the highs and denounced for the lows. Until recently he has always composed himself in a suave manner, letting the consolidated defence, graceful forward play and most importantly positive results do the talking. His recent outbursts of frustration have created a talking point as to whether he can cope.

Since his arrival he has distributed around 285 million pounds on players, so does he deserve criticism after losing 3-1 to an Ajax outfit costing only 2.75 million? Probably.

His managerial career started with Fiorentina. Despite them being plagued with financial problems leading to extremely unhappy fans he got his first taste of governing victory by winning the Coppa Italia in his first season. He almost immediately quit and Fiorentina subsequently ended up getting relegated. An interesting start.
