Virat Kohli to lead Australia’s T20 Team of 2016
Virat Kohli was now named as the captain of the Australian T20 team as well after being announced as the captain of the ODI and Test sides of this year for Australia. RCB team mate AB De Villiers and Indian pace man Jasprit Bumrah has also been selected for the T20 team announced by Australian cricket board.
England,Australia, India and south africa all have atleast two players within the squad but only one player was seleted from West Indies the world T20 champions for this year.Also Dwayne Bravo, who is the leading wicket taker in T20 for 2016, with 87 wickets to his name could not secure a place in the Aussie eleven for the year which is quite eye raising in itself.
David Warner who lead Sunriser Hydrabad to their maiden IPL title earlier this year is selected as the opener along with England’s Jason Roy.Jason Roy managed to find a place ahead of Chris Gayle, who is third in the leading scorer list for 2016 and Tamim Iqbal who scored more than 1000 runs at an average of 46.29 in this year.
Virat Kohli who has 14 fifties and 4 Centuries with an overall score of 1614 runs this year, Virat Kohli is all set to be at the number three position and also to lead this side.AB De Villiers was out due to an injury for a long time but it didn’t affect his place who along with Jos Buttler will handle the middle order for this side. Jos Butler will also be handling the wicket keeping responsibility for the team.
Andre Russell, the second leading wicket taker for the year is the only West Indian that have managed to grab a place in the side.Andre Russell was a part of five winning side this year namely – Bangladesh Premier League, Big Bash League, Pakistan Super League, World T20 and the Caribbean Premier League.
South Africa’s Farhaan Behardien was selected ahead of Dwayne Bravo, who is the leading wicket-taker in T20s in 2016 with 87 wickets.Bowling duo consists of Shahid Afridi and Adam Zampa and pace duo of Jasprit Bumrah and Mustafizur Rahman.
