Aaron Judge burst onto the scene in 2017 paying for the Yankees, and hitting 52 home runs in his rookie year. This was a major-league record until Pete Alonso broke it in 2020. He’s a 2 time all star in 2017 and 2018. He was 2nd in the MVP voting in 2017 to Jose Altuve, which is a controversy now that the Astros cheating scandal came out. He won rookie of the year that season too, and a silver slugger. In 2017, he was leading the major leagues in home runs, walks and runs.
Aaron Judge is back at it again in the 2020 season. He hit 7 home runs in 5 games during the start of the season, and leads the majors in RBI’s and homers. In the last 7 games, he is hitting .304 with 4 homers and 9 RBI’s in only 23 at bats. He struck out 3 times against Tampa Bay on Friday night.
Mike Trout had a child on July 30th, 2020. He returned to the Los Angeles Angels lineup on August 3rd and has hit 3 home runs in the next 3 games, including his 5th career birthday blast. He has hit 5 home runs this year, with 4 coming in the past 7 games. In 40 at bats, he is hitting .325, 5 home runs, and 11 RBI. He has only struck ou 9 times in the past 10 games. This isn’t anything new to him because many people consider him a the best player in the league. There is not much that needs to be said about him.
Nicholas Castellanos is a right fielder for the Cincinnati Reds and has tied Aaron Judge for the major league lead in home runs at 7. In 403 at-bats last year he hit 11 home runs. It is a shortened season this year, but he would be on pace to hit 56 home runs in that many at-bats, based on how many he has hit so far this year. So far in 50 at-bats he has 12 runs, 17 hits, 7 home runs, 16 RBI’s and 5 walks. He is swinging a hot bat, with a .340 average. He leads the league in slugging percentage, on-base plus slugging, and is tied for the lead in home runs.
Nelson CruzNelson Cruz is 40 years old!!!! He has 15 RBI’s, 3 homers which he hit in one game, and a .365 average in 52 at-bats. He has struck out 14 times, which is a high number for 52 at-bats. But with 3 homers and 15 runs batted in, you can’t complain too much. Especially when you are getting this much production from a 40-year-old and your team was the first to reach 10 wins. That team, of course, being the Twins, who are off to a scorching hot start in the shortened season.
