“El Clasico” returns this weekend

el clasico

After the midweek games in the Champions League and Europa League, it’s back to domestic level this weekend. In midweek we found out which teams advanced to the Champions League quarter finalists and later tonight we will find out who are the Europa League quarter finalists.

It’s time to look at national championships and to see what games are must watch this weekend in top European Leagues. Maybe the most interesting game will be in Spain Liga BBVA, since it’s time for “El Clasico” when Real Madrid face Barcelona at the Bernabeu this weekend.

In France, Spain and England once more we will have games between top league clubs.

After last week North London derby, this week we are going to see another London derby. Third placed Arsenal will go to Stamford Bridge to face Jose Mourinho troops.

This game will be open on Saturday and can’t see this one being goalless, another interesting game is on Sunday when Tottenham face Southampton.

Since there was a lot of games that are postponed due to cup (or Europa) competition, on Tuesday we got one more interesting games in Premiership – Manchester derby.

United and City battle it out on Tuesday evening, City have a big 12 point lead in front of United. This will be the game that will decide who is the number one in Manchester this season.

Serie A:
Week 29 bring us one more interesting game between top 4 teams in Serie A – Napoli vs. Fiorentina. Napoli is now on 3rd place and they will want to keep pace with Roma in 2nd place and since that is the place that will qualify for the UEFA Champions League next season.

Fiorentina is on 4th place with 10 points behind Napoli. There are two major reasons why Fiorentina need to win this game, first is their Europa league place and second is that with this win there is a chance that they can beat Napoli and go into Champions League qualifications.

Liga BBVA:
What do we need to say for game 29 in Spain, maybe only this – “El Clasico”!

If you still got the question mark over your head on who is playing after reading the name of the derby, “El Clasico”.

This is a mouthwatering game between Spanish heavyweights in Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Is there any greater match to be played in Spain or in Europe?

Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich go up against 5th place Mainz 05, if there are any other circumstances we would call this game a a local derby.

But since we’ve already spoke about Bayern Munich’s domination and that we already know that Mainz 05 defence is pretty bad, let’s hope Mainz will not suffer the faith of Wolfsburg or Schalke 04.

Ligue 1:
Similar to Serie A, in France we also have a clash between top 3 clubs; Monaco (2nd) is going against Lille (3rd).

Monaco is 9 points in front of Lille, if they win this game they will retain second place in the league.

For Lille this is the last chance saloon if they don’t want to escape Champions League qualification next season. Anything other than a win for Lille could result in their Champions league appearance next season being in danger.
