Freddie Roach the trainer of Manny Pacquiao (56-5-2, 38 KO’s) believes that Floyd Mayweather (45-0, 26 KO’s) doesn’t want the bout with his fighter, the Hall of Fame trainer has admitted that he has now moved on from the stage of getting angry at the Mayweather team continuing to avoid the fight.
Roach says he is fed up with Floyd “making excuses not to fight” and insists that they’re “ready anytime”.
Roach says that they have agreed to all of Mayweather terms before, only for the Pound4Pound king to make another excuse to avoid the fight.
“We’d love to fight [Floyd] Mayweather but there have been so many excuses. He really doesn’t seem to want to fight us, but we want that fight. I think my guy beats him,” Roach told the The Daily Telegraph.
“It was not the best I have seen Manny perform, but I’m not annoyed with him, I’m annoyed at myself for not seeing Bradley’s plan coming,”
“I’ve stopped getting angry about Mayweather refusing to fight my guy, but we’ve agreed to everything – a 60/40 split of the purse, blood testing, whatever it is… and then he comes up with something else.”
Pacman is coming off the back of a dominate performance against Timothy Bradley, he avenged his controversial 2012 loss in their first meeting, to claim the WBO welterweight crown.
Pacquiao and Mayweather have been involved in at least three serious negotiations that have failed since 2009 over issues such as drug testing, the purse split and ego.
Since their first talks, Pacquiao has now met Mayweather’s request for stringent drug testing and has said he doesn’t need a 50-50 purse split, either.
So all that really remains are the egos.
