After failing to obtain Loic Remy earlier in the summer, Liverpool has chosen to address their fullback problems before pursuing another striker to finish off a productive transfer window.
The club has landed on two main targets for their fullback positions, in form of left-back Alberto Moreno and Javier Manquillo, both young Spanish fullbacks.
Their effort to sign Alberto Moreno can almost be described as a saga, where Liverpool has grown more and more frustrated over Sevilla’s reluctance to decrease their asking price for their Spanish asset.
However, media sources can now report that Liverpool are close to signing both Alberto Moreno from Sevilla and right-back Javier Manquillo, hailing from Atletico Madrid.
The deal for Moreno will be in the region of £16m, while the deal for Manquillo will be a two-year-loan with an option to buy for £5m.
These well-needed signings will take Liverpool’s spending well over £100m for the summer, while their pursuit of filling the gap left by superstar Luis Suarez continues.
Their signings to date include: Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana, Emre Can, Divock Origi, Dejan Lovren, supertalent Lazar Markovic and now Alberto Moreno and Javier Manquillo.
Left for Liverpool in this transfer window, is to sign a competitive striker to complete their striker options for the summer, where names such as Wilfried Bony has been mentioned as potential targets.
