Tyson Fury insists he could have knocked out Sefer Seferi in the first round if he wanted to, but decided to prolong the fight as he wanted to get rounds in the bank.

Tyson Fury faced the Albanian cruiserweight at Manchester Arena on Saturday night, in a bout everyone would have rather not seen, the fight offered little excitement and Sefer Seferi posed no threat whatsoever to Tyson Fury. The former heavyweight champion toyed with is opponent throughout the fight and Seferi had enough after four rounds and retired on his stool.

In this non-title fight both fighters spent the first two rounds taunting each other and the ref had to stop the fight on a couple of occasions to remind the pair that they were in the ring to fight. This was Tyson Fury first fight since he stopped Klitschko in November 2015 to become world heavyweight champion. Everyone knew that his opponent was chosen simply to help Fury get some rounds in and will provide no test at all.

“I felt fantastic, it was like having my debut again. I’ve had a long time out the ring and I needed some rounds, so I was taking my time,” Fury said to skysports.com. ”The calibre of opponents will keep on rising. I will be better next time. I’m going to have a world title by the end of the year — that’s a promise.”

Tyson Fury has insisted that his goal is to reclaim what he never lost in the ring, the world heavyweight championship belts. His first step was against the over-matched Seferi, now that is out-of-the-way he can now focus on stepping up his level of opponents.

“I could have knocked him out, but what would that have got me?” said former WBA, IBF and WBO world champion Fury.

Tyson Fury will fight again August 18th  on the Carl Frampton show in Belfast, promoter Frank Warren is looking to keep his fighter busy as he looks to claim a world title before the end of 2018, Warren insists that a fight against Liverpool fighter Tony Bellew could happen this year, he added Bellew was “someone we would go for by the end of the year, no problem”.

Tyson Fury v Sefer Seferi

Shortly after Fury got rid of Sefer Seferi, WBC world cruiserweight emeritus champion Tony Bellew took to Twitter to suggest he would knockout the Gypsy King.

The pair have been going at each other after Tony Bellew criticised Tyson Fury’s comeback.

Tyson Fury next could face a number of British fighters, other than Tony Bellew, David Price has also claimed that he’d be interested in facing the Gypsy King.

“I’d throw my name into the hat,” said Price, 34.

I think based on Fury’s performance on Saturday night, he should face David Price than risk being KO’d by the smaller Tony Bellew and he can bang as we saw against David Haye. Although David Price has a KO punch aswell, he can never seem to be able let it go, let alone connecting flush
