Winning Farewell to Brendon McCullum


What a fitting farewell to Black Caps skipper Baz. Kiwis defended the modest score of 248 in style against the Aussies in third and final ODI. Australia could only manage to score 191. The Black Caps won the match and the series 2-1.

This series will be remembered as Baz’s Last one day international match in coloured jersey. Baz scored entertaining 47 of just 27 balls in his final ODI match.

Brendon McCullum has played 260 ODI matches. He has scored 6083 runs with average of 30.41 and strike rate of 96.37. He 5 one day hundreds and 32 fifties. His highest score is 166, that came against the Ireland. He has hit 577 fours and 200 sixes in his glorious career. Brendon started his career as Wicket-Keeper/Batsman. He has effected 15 stumpings and caught 262 catches.

The Mother of Coincidence was Baz made his ODI debut against Australia and ended his ODI career against the same team.He loves playing against the Aussies.

Australian players gave guard of honour to Brendon McCullum in Last and final match on Monday.

McCullum will play his 100th Test against Australia in Wellington from February 12th to 16th. He will be the first player to play so many consecutive matches from debut. This test series will be his last. He made test debut on 10th March 2004 Vs South Africa. Now he will end his test career against Australia.

As captain McCullum played 62 matches. He scored 1887 runs with average of 33.69 and strike Rate of 120.11. He has two hundreds and 13 half centuries. In wins McCullum scored 3549 runs in 136 matches. He scored these runs with an average of 38.57 and strike rate of 110.28.

He is 4 hundreds and 18 fifties to his name in winning cause. As wicket keeper batsmen Baz scored 4057 runs with an average of 30.73 and strike rate of 90.37. As WK batsmen he had 20 fifties and 3 hundreds to his name. Baz has ended his career as top wicket keeper batsmen.

He has been along side with legends such as Gilchrist, Kumar Sangakara , Mark Boucher , Ms Dhoni and etc.

It’s Very Sad that player like Brendon McCullum won’t be part of New Zealand squad for ICC World T20 In India from March. New Zealand will surely miss Brendon McCullum. He is the first player to score 1000 runs and only player after Chris Gayle to score 2 T20 Hundreds.

As Cricket loving fans we shall never see Brendon McCullum’s explosive batting again. We can never forget that innings of 158* for Kolkata Knight Riders against the Royal Challengers Bangalore in first game of IPL in 2008.

Baz will be surely missed by cricket lovers, fans , critics & in new Zealand’s dressing room.
