While UFC Perth delivered for the MMA community, there were some heartbreaking moments for the Australians in the Octagon.

The event produced seven finishes from 13 bouts, and two fighters walked away with a Fight of the Night (FOTN) bonus.

The main card showcased the most eye-catching moments, as the rankings will be heavily shaken up on Tuesday.

The Nightmare places itself in strong title contention

The main event was a welterweight blockbuster, and the winner would potentially decide a future championship challenger.

Jack Della Maddalena aimed to bounce back from his title defeat after a unanimous decision loss to Islam Makhachev at UFC 322, his first loss since May 2016.

Carlos Prates was driving up the rankings after earning emphatic knockout victories over Geoff Neal and former champion Leon Edwards.

Both mixed martial artists are talented strikers and knockout artists, meaning the fight would be dominated on the feet.

Despite attempting a few takedowns, JDM was brave enough to strike at Prates, but the Brazilian was throwing the more powerful, stunning shots.

While receiving a lot of well-timed punches, ‘The Nightmare’ stung Maddalena with devastating leg kicks and knee strikes.

After knocking down the former champion three times, the 32-year-old hurt Maddalena with a vicious leg kick before finishing him by TKO in the third round with a nasty ground-and-pound.

A very impressive performance from Prates that really should put him next in line for the welterweight title against the winner of Makhachev and his unannounced upcoming opponent.

Salkilld enters the lightweight rankings

The co-headliner was bound to be an intriguing watch with an experienced veteran taking on a fast-rising prospect.

Beneil Dariush was in need of redemption after suffering a quick first-round knockout loss to Benoit Saint-Denis at UFC 322.

Quillan Salkilld earned four UFC victories in the space of a year and was looking for a second win in 2026 after submitting Jamie Mullarkey at UFC 325.

A lot of pressure was on the #12 lightweight contender, who had to defend his spot in the 155-pound division against an unranked fighter.

The contest didn’t go past the first round as the action quickly intensified when Dariush dropped Salkilld early, before the Australian quickly fired back with pressure after unleashing some hard-hitting punches.

After a bit of time clinching against the cage, the 26-year-old rocked the American with numerous strikes before landing a knockdown.

Once Dariush was down, it didn’t take long for the Pinjarra-born fighter to finish the job and win by first-round TKO.

Salkilld will enter the lightweight rankings and now has a 12-win streak, as he has not been defeated since his MMA debut.
