Arsenal and Newcastle United will reportedly lock horns in their quest to sign Bayern Munich’s winger Leroy Sane.

The Gunners have had a fruitful summer transfer window so far. They have spent around £70m on five signings this summer, permanently acquiring David Raya and also bringing in Riccardo Calafiori, Mikel Merino, Tommy Setford, and Raheem Sterling.

The club witnessed several departures, with Mohamed Elneny and Cedric Soares leaving following the end of their contracts. Emile Smith Rowe, Aaron Ramsdale, and Eddie Nketiah were sold to Fulham, Southampton, and Crystal Palace, respectively.

Newcastle has had a quieter summer than many expected. However, they still managed to secure the signatures of Lewis Hall from Chelsea and William Osula from Sheffield United.

Both the clubs have had an excellent start to their domestic campaign, and now they look set to compete with each other for Leroy Sane’s signature (according to a report via GiveMeSport).

The German winger’s contract runs until June 2025, and now talks are taking place for a contract extension. However, there is a negotiation stalemate between the club and the player over his wages. The 28-year-old is looking to earn a higher wage, but the club is not on the same page as they are not agreeing to a wage increase.

The negotiation stalemate has fuelled speculations of a potential transfer away from the Allianz Arena.

Arsenal is monitoring the situation closely as they look to strengthen their attacking department. Sane’s arrival could add more teeth to their attacking force.

Newcastle United has Sane on their radar as they look to add more strength to their attacking force following the departure of Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh for a combined £65 million.

Signing Sane will be a straightforward process

According to reports, one condition that can make a transfer difficult for the player is his current wage, which is set at £325,000 per week. Both teams will have to shell out a huge amount of money to secure his signing.

Signing Sane won’t be straightforward, but as things stand, it ultimately depends on the outcome of Bayern’s behind-the-scenes contract negotiations.

Leroy Sane is a robust and dynamic attacker with quick feet and great control over the ball. His pace and the skills he demonstrates on the wing make him a ferocious player who could really trouble the opposition’s backline.

In club football, Sane has made over 367 appearances and scored 100 goals, whereas, for his National team, he has donned the jersey 65 times and scored 13 goals.
