The 20225/26 Premier League is fast approaching, so it’s time for us to give our pre-season predictions for the title race.

Arsenal To Pip Liverpool And City For The Title?

It feels as if it’s now or never for Mikel Arteta, as his Gunners are in desperate need of silverware, especially having been runners-up twice to Manchester City and then Liverpool.

Arsenal also reached the semi-final of the EFL Cup and Champions League, but their lack of ruthlessness in front of goal was what cost them a place in both finals.

You could say that it cost them a lot to win the title, as 21 points were dropped from winning positions in the League last season.

However, can the signing of Viktor Gyökeres make the difference?

Gyökeres was the top scorer of the Liga Portugal for Sporting CP, with an astonishing 39 goals in 26 appearances.

How quickly can he adapt to the fast-paced, physical nature of the Premier League? It is a fascinating watch. Surely he has to be the final piece of the puzzle for Arsenal ending their 22-year wait for the Title?

Revamped Midfield

Meanwhile, Zubimendi seems like an excellent addition to bolster the Midfield options.

It could also give more freedom to the likes of Declan Rice and Martin Ødegaard to get more involved in Arsenal’s attacking play.

As far as the options on the wings are concerned, Noni Madueke looks an interesting decision, as his time at Chelsea didn’t spark into life.

You would presume he would be used as a backup option for Bukayo Saka, who surely will be a regular starter for Arsenal on the Right Wing.

The inclusion of Cristhian Mosquera will also provide defensive cover for William Saliba and Gabriel  Magalhães at centre back.

As for the Champions, it seems that Arne Slot’s Reds aren’t resting on just one Title. They won’t more, and their intentions have been pretty clear with the business they have done this summer.

Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike look like excellent replacements for Darwin Nunez and the late Diogo Jota, who passed away this summer.

The Reds have also got Newcastle’s Alexander Isak on their radar, however, that move looks highly unlikely now.

Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are hoping that they can erase their underwhelming 2024-25 season, where they went through a whole season without winning a trophy.

The last time that happened was 20116/17, which was his first season at the club.

City did feature in the Club World Cup, but were knocked out of the Last 16 stage by Al-Hilal from Saudi Arabia.

Can Trafford Fill In For Ederson?

One of the major exits for City this summer is their world-class keeper, who looks to be on his way out of the club after eight years.

Ederson was one of the Premier League’s top goalkeepers, who won the Golden Glove award for three successive seasons from 2019-20 to 2021/22, sharing the award with Alisson Becker that season.

Ederson’s exit has now paved the way for James Trafford to reunite with his boyhood club.

Trafford was part of City’s youth academy along with the likes of Cole Palmer, Morgan Rogers, and Liam Delap.

He then joined Burnley in the summer of 2023, and arguably their best player in a hugely disappointing Premier League campaign for Vincent Kompany’s side.

Replacing a top keeper isn’t always easy, so the 22-year-old will have a lot on his plate to try and maintain the standards set by the Brazilian.

Can he do that?

Cherki: An Ideal Replacement For De Bruyne

Kevin De Bruyne has been one of the Premier League’s greatest midfielders and a club legend for Manchester City.

With 119, he is second behind Ryan Giggs as the Premier League’s highest assist maker.

Yet it was confirmed in June that he would be on his way out of the club and joining Napoli on a free, having run down his contract at the Etihad Stadium.

Thus City did not waste any time, and has found a replacement in the form of Ryan Cherki.

Cherki, who signed for Ligue 1’s Lyon in 2019, bagged 29 goals and 45 assists in 185 games.

But as the Premier League is more physical and intense, how soon can he adjust to it?

So these are World In Sport’s predictions on the Premier League title race.

Who do you think will win?
