The 2024/25 Premier League season has officially come to a close, and what a campaign it has been. Historic highs, crushing lows and everything in between – it’s now time to reflect back on the campaign and honour the players who stood out from the crowd.

Here is my team of the season.

Perhaps Nottingham Forest will be disappointed with a Europa Conference League spot after spending much of the season in the top five, but in context, it’s still a huge achievement after a 17th place finish last season.

A big part of their success was down to their shot stopper, Matz Sels, who had an incredible campaign between the sticks.

The Belgian finished the season with the golden glove with (13 clean sheets, joint with David Raya.) He prevented 4.5 more goals than expected – the second best in the league – whilst averaging 3.2 saves per game.

An outstanding campaign earns him a spot in the team.

Honourable mentions: David Raya & Jordon Pickford

RB – Daniel Muñoz (Crystal Palace)

Crystal Palace’s Colombian machine, Daniel Munoz has been a revelation for the Eagles on that right hand side, covering around 10.8km per game and never shows signs of slowing down.

With four goals and five assists, he has played a pivotal part in helping Palace towards their highest ever points total in the Premier League.

CB – Virgil Van Dijk (Liverpool)

It wasn’t going to be long until a Liverpool player was included after their title winning campaign, Virgil Van Dijk was at his dominant bets, marshalling Liverpool’s defence with authority.

He’s dominant in the air, winning 72.1% of his arial duals and has even chipped in with three goals from the back.

Arne Slot will be glad he’s sticking around next season.

Honourable mentions Marc Guehi & James Tarkowski

CB – Nikola Milenković (Nottingham Forest)

Nottingham Forest’s resurgence owes plenty to the defensive stability brought by Nikola Milenković.

The Serbian international was colossal, asserting his dominance at the back, winning 71.4% of his arial duals and 70.1% of his regular duals. A no-nonsense presence in Nuno Espirito Santo’s backline, he has more than earned his place.

Honourable mentions – William Saliba & Ibrahima Konate

LB – Milos Kerkez (Bournemouth)

The 21-year-old had a breakout campaign for Bournemouth, helping his side to a ninth place finish.

Two goals and six assists from left-back have caught the eye of top clubs – but im sure Cherries fans will be hoping to keep him around for at least another season.

CM – Declan Rice (Arsenal)

Despite a frustrating season for Arsenal, Declan Rice has stood out. His energy, defensive nous and growing leadership presence made him the heartbeat of the team.

11 goal contributions later, the £120 million midfielder will hope to take the Gunners one step further next season as their wait for an elusive Premier League title goes on.

Honourable mentions – Moises Caicedo & Bruno Guimãraes

CM – Ryan Gravenberch (Liverpool)

We’ll ignore the red card against Crystal Palace today – Ryan Gravenberch has been a revolution for Liverpool and Arne Slot has helped him flourish.

The Dutch international has won possession 189 this season, thats more than any of his teammates and sits fourth in the overall standings, a true force in the middle.

Honourable mentions – Sandro Tonali & Youri Tielemans

CM – Alexis Mac Allister (Liverpool)

Another midfield metronome for the title winners, Alexis Mac Allister is the beating heart of the midfield, playing with an intensity that so many other teams struggle to cope with.

He also steps up with goals and assists, ten in total this campaign, he often delivers in big moments and looks an absolute bargain at £55 million from Brighton.

RW – Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)

The best player in the Premier League this season, Mohamed Salah has hit new heights, equaling the record for most goal contributions in a Premier League season ever at 47 (29 goals 18 assist)

He led both charts outright, and the Reds simply wouldn’t have won the title without him and they’ll be delighted he’s sticking around.

Honourable mentions – Cole Palmer & Jarrod Bowen

ST – Alexander Isak (Newcastle)

Alexander Isak may have missed out on the golden boot, but take nothing away from how incredible his campaign has been.

His explosive turn of pace and lethal finishing makes him a nightmare for defenders, and his 23 goals were a big reason as to why Newcastle were able to secure Champions league football next season.

Honourable mentions – Chris Wood & Yoane Wissa

LW – Bryan Mbeumo

His most productive campaign to date, and although he doesn’t notoriously play on the left, Bryan Mbeumo had to be squeezed in.

Only Salah and Isak have more goal contributions than the Cameroonian this season, who did not only hit double digits for goals for the first time in his Premier League career, but he totalled 20, which put him fourth in the golden boot race.

Even when Brentford haven’t been at their best, he’s delivered the goods, week in week out.

Honourable mentions – Matheus Cunha & Eberechi Eze
