Max Holloway vs. Justin Gaethje – Don’t Miss UFC 300

The stage is set for the third centurial main event of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. The premier competition of Mixed-Martial Arts continues to grow and another cornerstone of the company comes in the form of UFC 300, which is set to take place on 13th April.

However, with just over two months, much speculation continues to swirl around the event leaving fans simultaneously apprehensive and exhilarated. Up till present, the current fight card of UFC 300 has been met with a mixed reception.

The fight for the BMF title between Justin Gaethje and Max Holloway and the contest between Charles Oliveria and Arman Tsarukyan were both met with deep enthusiasm. Whereas, fights between Jiri Prochazka, Aleksandar Rakić, Calvin Kattar and Aljamain Sterling left fans unimpressed, suggesting that these contents are not worthy of such an important ceremonial fight card.

With the main event yet to be announced, many different parties have been linked with headlining the card, including the likes of Israel Adesanya being rumoured to face the newly crowned middleweight champion South African Dricus Du Plessis. Since Adesanya’s title defence defeat to Sean Strickland back in September he’s been seen to take a step back from any short-term return.

However, the favourite to headline the event comes in the form of arguably the most recognisable fighter in modern history, the notorious Conor McGregor. Despite Mcgregor’s last fight occurring more than two and half years ago, he has been ever-present within media headlines, due to his unrecognisable weight gain, questioned by many for his speculative steroid use, as well as his main role as the antagonist in the reimagining of Road House, with Jake Gyllenhall as the lead.

With many questions still needing to be answered around UFC 300, one thing is rest assured, which is that the ceremonial event of UFC 300 symbolises the prolific and meteoric rise of the UFC, as the company is not faced with any form of threatening competition by the likes of the PFL or Bellator.
