San Diego was left in shock and asking questions after the surprising moment in the main event.
Survivor Series War Games 2025 was held at Petco Park, which included the return of Liv Morgan and John Cena‘s last match in a PLE.
However, the men’s five-on-five War Games battle ended in stunning fashion, which no one expected.
CM Punk was attacked by a masked figure who climbed over the cage to attack the World Champion, but who was it?
Here are three potential suspects that committed the crime, allowing Brock Lesnar, Drew McIntyre, Logan Paul, Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed to win the match.
Seth Rollins
The Curb Stomp is a finishing move which is used explicitly by ‘The Architect’ himself, as that’s the move that played a big factor in the result.
Rollins has history with CM Punk as he cashed in his Money in the Bank contract during SummerSlam to dethrone ‘The Best in the World’.
The former Shield member was attacked and betrayed by Breakker and Reed, which led him to be injured and vacate the World Championship.
This could have been a sign to Punk that Rollins is back to regain his title and continue his rivalry with the Chicago superstar.
Despite this being a very likely aspect of the situation, it is believed that, after Rollins was attacked in October, he was expected to be out of action for 6 months.
It would also be strange for the 39-year-old to commit this act of mischief after he was betrayed by his members of The Vision, Breakker and Reed, who won the match.
The Iowa-born wrestler would not want to give them the satisfaction of winning the match after causing a fatal blow to Rollins.
While it may not be the most believable, it is a possibility as it’s strange why the Curb Stomp was used on Punk if it wasn’t the man behind the finishing move who did it himself.
Austin Theory
The last appearance Theory made in WWE was his clash with El Grande Americano in July on ‘WWE Main Event’.
A week later, an ally of the former United States Champion, Grayson Waller, confirmed that Theory was injured and had been separated from the team.
The 28-year-old was reported to be returning in October, as it was believed he would be an ally to The Vision in the War Games match.
While he wasn’t a superstar involved in the five-on-five battle, he could have been the culprit behind the punishing act.
There has been no history between Punk and Theory, as neither man has faced the other in WWE.
The Georgia-born wrestler was highlighted as a promising prospect by the co-founder of modern WWE, Vince McMahon.
Since his WWE debut, Theory has become a two-time United States Champion, a SmackDown Tag Team Champion alongside Waller, and the 2022 Men’s Money in the Bank winner.
Perhaps Theory is now looking to get involved in the world title picture and strategically plans to attack the current champion.
Becky Lynch (Unlikely)
The only other suspect that seems to make sense is ‘The Man’ as she’s had a heated feud with Punk’s wife, AJ Lee.
Lynch fought in the Women’s War Games match in the opening battle of Survivor Series, where her team lost after she submitted to Lee’s Black Widow.
The Irish superstar had fought alongside her husband, Rollins, to take on Punk and Lee at Wrestlepalooza in September, where once again she was unsuccessful in that match.
Not to forget, Lynch lost her Intercontinental Championship to Maxxine Dupri, with the help of Lee, on Monday Night Raw.
This may have been a way to get some revenge on Lee by attacking her husband, especially when using her own partner’s finishing move.
However, looking at the masked figure who made the attack, it is pretty clear it couldn’t have been Lynch.
The attacker was about the same height as Punk and much bigger, meaning it could not have been the female wrestler.
Lynch could have possibly come up with the plot, but it’s doubtful that she was focused on her match at Survivor Series.
What else happened at Survivor Series War Games 2025?
As mentioned before, Lee submitted Lynch to win the War Games matchup alongside her allies Alexa Bliss, Charlotte Flair, Iyo Sky and Rhea Ripley.
This left Lash Legend, Nia Jax and the Kabuki Warriors (Asuka and Kairi Sane) to suffer defeat.
Cena competed in his final PLE in WWE as he fought Dominik Mysterio in a rematch for the Intercontinental title.
The Judgement Day’s antics were almost thwarted until Morgan’s return left the crowd shocked and caused Cena to lose the title.
Arguably the biggest win of Mysterio’s career as he becomes the Intercontinental Champion once again.
Stephanie Vaquer and Nikki Bella settled their heated feud in a Singles Match for the Women’s World Championship.
Vaquer delivered two brutal Devil’s Kisses before landing a Corkscrew Splash to retain her title.
