Are Chelsea Genuine Title Challengers

Liverpool may be four points clear at the top of the league, but Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea is showing the kind of consistency needed to be genuine title challengers. As Arne Slot’s Red have that four-point gap at the top, they are still in the driver’s seat with a game in hand, as their match with Everton was postponed due to inclement weather.

But the form Maresca’s Blues are in seems to suggest that they are not ruling out a potential charge for the Title.]

Chelsea’s talisman seems to be getting better and better, season after season.

Last season, he was the club’s top scorer with 22 goals.

He literally carried the whole team on his shoulders and was the main reason the Blues sneaked into sixth place.

However, it seems that this season, the rest of the team is now feeding off the England superstar and has become one tight unit.

The credit has to go to Maresca for allowing this to happen.

“The reaction of the players was mentally strong both on and off the ball.” “We used to change players game by game but today the players were all very good. Pedro Neto and Jadon Sancho were great on and off the ball.”

Maresca also gave an insight of what makes Palmer so special.

‘The best thing from him is that four, five years ago when he was with me in the Under-23s, he was one way and now after two years, 20-30 goals and everyone considers him one of the best, he is exactly the same guy. ‘Loves football, humble, no strange things. This is the best thing for Cole and for young players, because today, young players if they play one game well, they already think they are [top] and they lose the balance. He is always the same, doesn’t change, and we are very happy with Cole.’

Let’s hope he can continue his consistency for Chelsea and become a superstar for England.

Defence a Concern

The only issue which may prevent them from winning the title, is their leaky defence, which includes the inconsistency of Robert Sanchez.

The fact that the Spaniard has just three clean sheets in 14 appearances shows that the team is to reliant on outscoring the opponents, rather than seeing out games.

If they can just tighten up the defensive side of things, including Sanchez cutting out the mistakes, then Chelsea could push towards a Title surge, come the end of the season.
