After losing last season’s showcase event in Istanbul last June. Inter Milan are more determined than ever to go one better this year at Wembley. Them being outsiders for the crown could suit them perfectly in this year’s UEFA Champions League.

Inter Milan are absolutely flying at the top of the Serie A. Amassing 72 points from 27 games played and being 15 points clear of their nearest rivals Juventus.

With another Scudetto within touching distance. This could give them the perfect opportunity to add a 4th UEFA Champions League crown!

Obviously, this is easier said than done. With teams like Real Madrid and the holders Manchester City still in the competition. With only a slender 1-0 lead in their Last 16 tie with Atletico Madrid, their place in the Quarter finals is not guaranteed. However, their fantastic display in the first leg will only give them confidence that they can go to Madrid and get the job done.

Inter Milan have not lifted the famous trophy since 2010. This was when Jose Mourinho was in charge but now under the stewardship of Simone Inzaghi. They have a real chance of lifting the trophy.

Leading the line is their captain Lautaro Martinez. The World Cup winner has scored 26 goals in all comps this season. He has struck up a fantastic partnership with Marcus Thuram. Only Harry Kane at Bayern Munich has scored more goals than Martinez this season. Inter, Liverpool & Arsenal are among European football’s top-scoring sides in 2023-24.

What have Inter Milan got?

Inter will have to lean on the vast amounts of experience they have in order to progress further in the Champions League, the feeling of coming so close last season must be used as fuel to go one step further this year.

After losing some key players in the summer including Andre Onana and Marcelo Brozovic to Manchester United and Al Nassr respectively, they had to replace and replace well they have. Yann Sommer has fitted in seamlessly in goal and a new deeper role for Hakan Calhanoglu has unleashed his fantastic abilities.

Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi has been given the nickname ‘Re di Coppe’, (King of the Cups), by the Italian press and for good reason his record in knockout competitions is very impressive with 3 Italian Cups and 5 Italian Super Cups.

They have not lost a game in Europe this season yet and with this manager and this group of players they have every belief they can go all the way.

Inter have been free scoring all season and conceded only 13 goals in Serie A and will take some stopping as they chase a Scudetto, Champions League double.
