Royal Antwerp goalkeeper Senne Lammens makes an honest admission: It would be difficult to turn down a move to Manchester United. The Red Devils are exploring the market for a goalkeeper as there is uncertainty around Altay Bayindir’s future at the club.

Bayindir has made few appearances for the Reds this season, settling for just seven in all competitions.

The Turkish international played a pivotal role in helping the Red Devils edge past the Gunners in the FA Cup Third Round. His saves were one of the match’s most important deciding factors.

The 26-year-old brings a lot to the table but is his future secured at United?

During the January transfer window, the player’s agent broke silence on this matter and stated that his client was keen to continue his playing career at Old Trafford.

But it remains to be seen whether they will entertain any offers for the goalkeeper that promise regular playing time.

If he were to depart, Manchester United would have to look for another goalkeeper who could compete with Andre Onana. The Cameronian international has made a handful of mistakes this season, which have cost the Red Devils valuable points.

The club has drawn a list of potential goalkeepers it can target, and among the names is Royal Antwerp’s first-choice goalkeeper, Senne Lammens.

The 22-year-old has admitted it would be difficult to turn down a move to the 20-time English champions if they came calling for his services.

“Wow, [it’s] hard to say. I’ve only played one full season at Antwerp,” Lammens told Belgian outlet Gazet Van Antwerpen.

“If something comes along that I can hardly say no to and that will benefit the club, I’ll have to think about it seriously. But if I’m the first ‘keeper here for another year, that’s no problem.”

The Belgium Under-21 international admits it feels “special” to be among the goalkeepers linked with a switch to Old Trafford.

Lamen said. The first time I heard it, I thought. ‘Wow, a world team that follows you. That is special’. Of course, I was also spoken to about it a lot and when I made a save in training, it was United this, United that. Funny, I would do it the other way around too. But you can’t dwell on it for too long.

“They are still just rumours. Those top clubs have so many scouts and follow so many players. So it doesn’t have to mean anything yet. It will only become clear in the summer whether anything comes of it.

“But of course, it’s only positive. Especially because it’s the best competition in the world and my profile – my stature and way of playing – is similar to English football. You have to physically hold your own there and that suits me.”

Lamen has cemented his place as Royal Antwerp’s first-choice goalkeeper this season, keeping five clean sheets in 26 Jupilier Pro League appearances.

The Belgian international’s contract expires in 2027, but he has a release clause of around €10 million. Manchester United could trigger the release clause and begin negotiations with the player.

Lamen is considering a transfer to United, but Manchester United must make the move.
