Thomas Tuchel is set to leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season as part of a ‘sporting realignment’ at the club. The 50-year-old replaced Julian Nagelsmann at the German champions in March 2023 on a deal until June 2025.

Yet, it seems as if the German Giants are not happy with the current situation. Being eight points off the top of the Bundesliga table, which is the norm of one of Europe’s biggest clubs.

So, what are his options?

Liverpool Bound?

With Anfield preparing a farewell party for Jurgen Klopp at the end of the season. The door is open for another top manager to replace the 56-year-old.

Although Thomas Tuchel seems keen on the job. It is unlikely that he would be the right fit for the job. FSG are not particularly keen on his way of working.

Though Mauricio Pochettino seems as if he is starting to turn things round at Chelsea, in terms of form. The fans are still to be fully convinced as to whether he is the man for the job. Especially given that he is a former Tottenham Hotspur manager.

Hence it is unsurprising that some Blues fans are dreaming of a return for the German.

In May 2021, Tuchel became just the second manager after Roberto Di Matteo to win Chelsea the UEFA Champions League, after defeating reigning champions Manchester City 1-0 in Porto, Portugal.

In the following season, the Blues made it to the finals of the EFL Cup and FA Cup. But lost to Liverpool on both occasions.

They did however win the FIFA Club World Cup in Abu Dhabi later that year.

But as the Chelsea Board are continuing to back Pochettino. It is highly unlikely that they would want to reunite with the German, given their sour relationship in the past.

But, in case Pochettino becomes under severe pressure in terms of results. Would Chelsea and Tuchel be in for a unlikely reunion?

This is another job which has caught the eye of the German. Despite being keen on it, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the Red Devils have no plans in replacing Erik Ten Hag.

Why would they after a month and a half of positive results on the pitch.

United are currently in sixth place in the Premier League, and five points of the top four. They also have an FA Cup 5th round tie away at Nottingham Forrest.

If you are INEOS, you would want to see the season out with Ten Hag, which is most likely to happen, and then assess things from there.

The North London club is also on the agenda for Tuchel as he looks to aye a return to the Premier League. But with Ange Postecoglou doing a fine job with Spurs fifth in the league and just two points off the top four, what is the point of a change in manager?

However, if the chairman Daniel Levy does make a shock call to axe ‘Angeball’ from the Club, the German would be ready to pounce on the next opportunity.

During Tuchel’s time as Borussia Dortmund Boss, in an interview with the Guardian, he talked about his childhood memories being linked to Spurs.

“As a little kid in my garden I liked the name Tottenham Hotspur. “For me to play them in two legs was very special. There are so many friendly people around the club. We deserved to win and it means a lot to me to be the first German team to win here.”

So, if Angeball decides to part ways with Spurs in the summer, will the club consider giving Tuchel the chance to manage the team he supported as a boy.

Tuchel to England?

The least likely choice given that the FA are keen to stick with Gareth Southgate who is also keen to keep his position after the European Championships this summer.

Southgate has taken England to three major tournaments (2 World Cups and a European Championship), reaching a semi-final, Final and a quarter final in Qatar.

No other manager apart from Sir Alf Ramsey (6 tournaments), has led England to more than three tournaments.

However, if Southgate or the FA does decide to change things, and the FA are willing to go down the route of appointing a foreign boss, then maybe Tuchel could be the one to end England’s 60-year wait for a trophy as England look to qualify for the 2026 World Cup post Germany 2024.

But with names like Eddie Howe and Graham Potter being highly recommended, it will be interesting to see whether Tuchel is still in their minds or not, should Southgate and England decide to part ways after the Euros.

According to Sky Bet, Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola are the two non-English managers, who are in the list of candidates to replace Southgate if he decides to step down after the Euros.

So, where do you think Thomas Tuchel will end up going?
