Former England goalkeeper Joe Hart has announced he will retire from football at the end of the season.

Joe Hart, currently playing for Celtic. He has enjoyed a stellar career, winning two Premier League titles with Manchester City. As well as an FA Cup and two League Cups.

The shot-stopper made his England debut against Trinidad and Tobago in 2008. He has amassed an impressive 75 caps, his last of those coming in 2017.

Hart was selected for four major tournaments and was an unused substitute during the 2010 World Cup, before starting 10 of England’s next 11 tournament games.

Joe Hart was a casualty of Pep Guardiola’s arrival at Manchester City. the Spaniard preferred a goalkeeper who was more suited to playing out from the back, with Claudio Bravo arriving from Barcelona to replace him.

However, his legendary status for the Citizens should not be put into question. Alongside his league titles, Hart also won four Golden Gloves during his time at the club. He was named in the PFA team of the year on two occasions.

The 36-year-old will be remembered for several remarkable Champions League performances, including making 10 saves during a 1-0 defeat to Barcelona, following which Lionel Messi described Hart as a “phenomenon”.

The Englishman’s career stalled after leaving City, with loans to Torino and West Ham followed by unsuccessful spells at Burnley and Tottenham, but Joe Hart resurrected his career in Scotland, winning two league titles at Celtic with the club pushing for a third this term.

Joe Hart is only the third man to have won three major trophies in both England and Scotland, following Kenny Dalglish, who won multiple honours with Celtic and Liverpool, and Andrei Kanchelskis, who lifted trophies with both Manchester United and Rangers.
