The English Premier League 2023/24 season began for Tottenham with a bang both, on and off the field. Things look so different, especially with the advances of the Oil money bags from Saudi Arabia luring top players to the Saudi football league. Several EPL clubs have lost players, and re-building to compete for the League title has proved no easy feat.

Tottenham’s 2023/24 English Premier Football League

The team performed below par in the 2022/23 season and is not participating in any of the UEFA Competitions. This would create a loss of revenue from media rights and little attraction for top players to want a transfer to Spurs. Losing Harry Kane, to Bayern Munich, around the end of the transfer window was expected to spell disaster, given his value in helping them win matches. He has been a 20+ goals player for more than five seasons and truly carried the team on his shoulders.

The Ange Postecoglou Era

The new coach, Ange Postecouglou, arrived at Tottenham with little fanfare, possibly due to his coming from a lesser league in Scotland. Their pre-season preparation was haphazard, revealing very little about what the team could look like in the new season. Chairman David Levy, wasted no time in getting the players to join the new coach immediately after his arrival.

There were mixed feelings from the fans before the season started, but things have changed rapidly. Fast forward to match day 4, and you can hear fans buzzing about ‘Ange ball. ‘ They rave about the forward-looking style of the coach, the easy adaptation of new players, and the new team leadership of Son, Maddison, and Cuti Romero. This has improved the fan’s optimism, though, most of them rue the international break which has made them unable to watch ‘Ange Ball’ for two weeks.

Ange could emerge a hero, provided he can match the heroics of Mauricio Pochettino. The next few games would be crucial in knowing how the season would end for them. Tottenham would play fewer matches, with no UEFA Cup participation and an early exit from Carabao, which could count in his favor in his first season with Tottenham.

The entire team has done exceptionally well in their first four matches, staying second to title-holders Manchester City.

Most people expect Tottenham to perform better than last season looking at the way they started this season. They have scored 11 goals in four matches, and look unconcerned about Harry Kane’s exit.

With the international break over, the ‘Ange era’ continues. We hope that the enthusiasm he has brought to the team and fans will take them to a successful season.
