Thomas Tuchel is now the new England boss after Lee Carsley has ruled himself out of taking over from Gareth Southgate.

Tuchel will be the third foreign Manager after Sven-Göran Eriksson and Fabio Capello to take charge of England.

Who better to do that than the German?
Some people may have an issue with a German being in charge of England, given the past between the two nations, but let’s be honest: Apart from Eddie Howe, very few English managers have an attractive football style.
Also, we are in 2024, not the 1940s, so it shouldn’t depend on past affairs between the two nations.
If the FA manages to get this over the line, it wouldn’t just be a big step towards winning something, but it will prove that you don’t have to be English to manage England.
If you look at our pool of English managers, only Eddie Howe and maybe Graham Potter stand out.

Howe has only six games with Newcastle United and won just one.
Potter has only had three Champions League matches with Chelsea, where he won the two-leg tie against Borussia Dortmund in the Last-16.
And even though he won the Svenska Cupen with Östersunds, that’s not as big as winning a Europa League or at least getting to a final.
That’s why the FA have been brave, and appointed someone who has achieved success at the highest level and instil that mentality in the players.
If someone like Eddie Howe wins an FA Cup and consistently finishes in the top four, he could be an option for the future, if the German is not successful.
But as England needs silverware, it is probably best to choose someone with experience delivering it.
