Brighton has had an outstanding transfer window so far, with 4 signings and a new manager Fabian Hurzeler on board, let us take a look at their business.
Ibrahim Osman- Ghana: £18.9m (2029)
The 19-year-old is a left winger who was bought from Nordsjaelland, being given the ‘Here we go!’ by Fabrizio Romano back in February. Last season, he managed 44 appearances (or 2,870 minutes equating to almost 32 full 90s), scoring 10 and assisting 8 in all competitions.
He will join Adingra, Enciso, Mitoma, March, Buonanotte, Minteh and Cozier-Durberry on the wings. Tough Competition to say the least.
Yankuba Minteh – Gambia: £33m (2029)
Another 19-year-old winger, this time with a record-breaking signing for the seagulls, as Newcastle United had to sell the Feyenoord loanee at the end of June to avoid any chances of breaking Premier League profit and sustainability regulations.
Minteh helped Feyenoord finish 2nd in the Eredivisie, 7 points behind champions PSV. He did this with 10 goals and 6 assists in only 16.2 full 90s (1,462 minutes) in the Eredivisie. This is a very good piece of business for the seagulls, who could have paid up to £40m, which French club Lyon nearly paid.
Mats Wieffer – Netherlands: £25m (2029)
Wieffer, a 24-year-old defensive midfielder, also helped Feyenoord secure 2nd place in the Eredivisie. However, Mats Wieffer is a progressive and attacking defensive midfielder with a very strong defensive contribution.
Wieffer appeared in 29 Eredivisie games last season, almost playing every single minute of them as he missed 19 minutes (excluding added time). During this time, he scored 5 and assisted 3 from Defensive Midfield, displaying his progressive and attacking nature.
Amario Cozier-Duberry – England: Free (2028)
The former star of the Arsenal Academy saw his contract expire with the Premier League runner-ups, and therefore Brighton swooped the 19-year-old up. He can play on both wings, alongside in attacking midfield.
In 24 games last season, he got 13 goals and 5 assists, this mainly being in the Premier League 2 however. He is rumoured to be loaned out, but this is speculation.
That’s around £77m in transfer fees. IT’S JULY. IT’S BRIGHTON.
Brighton aren’t stopping there either, wanting to sign a right-back, centre-back and maybe a striker. Southampton’s Kyle Walker-Peters and Ajax’s Josip Sutalo are a few examples of players they have linked with. They also are reportedly closing in on a £8.4m deal for IFK Goteborg 18-year-old midfielder Malick Yalcouye.
