Chelsea News: Winger Mulls ‘Drastic’ Career Switch and Defeat to Manchester United

Chelsea winger Mykhaylo Mudryk is reportedly mulling a significant career transition following a formal charge imposed by the Football Association.

The 24-year-old was temporarily suspended last year after testing positive for the prohibited performance-enhancing substance meldonium.

The FA officially filed charges against him in June, and an investigation is ongoing to determine the length of the suspension.

According to a report in the Spanish outlet Marca via football.london, the Ukrainian international has set his sights on competing as a sprinter for Ukraine at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

The report also mentioned that he has been training with former Olympians in an effort to make the reported career switch.

However, to achieve this goal, Mudryk would need to meet World Athletics’ minimum standards and pass the Ukrainian national trials in 2027, before he can compete in Los Angeles.

Mudryk’s explosive speed is his standout trait, and this could give him a significant edge if he decides to pursue a career in sprinting.

Manchester United vs Chelsea: A nail-biting showdown

Manchester United edged past Chelsea in a tight Premier League fixture that saw Casemiro and Robert Martinez being sent off in the first half itself.

The Red Devils looked more threatening right from the start, and eventually, Chelsea succumbed to the pressure. In the 5th minute, Robert Martinez was unable to deal with Sesko’s flick and tripped Mbeumbo in the process, leading to his dismissal.

The game tipped towards United as they were able to score two goals in the first half ( Bruno Fernandes in the 14th minute and Casemiro in the 37th minute ), on the other hand, Chelsea were struggling to pull the strings and create goal-scoring opportunities in the first half as their leading attacking players, Pedro Neto, Estevao and Cole Palmer were substituted.

Casemeiro’s second yellow card in the first half itself was a turning point, leaving both teams with 10 men.

Chelsea adopted a more aggressive attacking approach in the second half in search of goals, and their efforts did pay off to some extent as Trevoh Chalobah drew blood for them in the 80th minute; however, it wasn’t enough to get them over the line as they failed to find the equaliser.
