The NHL teams go through a tough 81 game season, only gaining 2-points every win, and 1 point when the teams make it to OT (over time.)
In the NHL season a team will have injuries, suspensions, and healthy scratches which could put the team on the good or bad side of the league.
A example of that is Conner Mcdavid, a first round pick, he was out 3 months with a broken clavicle. This 2015-2016 season has been a wild ride, for all 30 teams. This season there was only 1 team that stood out from the pack, The Washington capitals with 113 points and counting.
Their star player Alex Ovechkin has had a fa-nominal season hitting his 500th goal of his career and still counting, also the Capitals star goalie Braden Holtby with a 47-9-6 (wins-lose-OT losses) season and a .922% save percentage, and ranked top 5 goalies this season.
But lately, the Pittsburgh Penguins are climbing really fast up the ranking and only a few points behind the Capitals. They clinched a playoff berth a few days ago.Their star forward Sidney Crosby has been playing fa- nominal with many assist and his silky mitts. But after checking the standing it dawned on me that the classic rivalry between the Capitals and Penguins might come once again true in this years playoffs.
It will only happen with a great run from the Caps win the first and Pens also win the first round, until they meet in the 2nd or 3rd round. They would have to play and win 4 out of 7 games till they move on. If the Caps and Pens do pass first round it will be a rodeo of a round with big hits, fights, goals and even a few injuries.
But lets not worry about that and get to who is going to win. Many people say the caps are going all the way to the “cup” (Stanley cup.) On the other hand underdogs always surprise the fans. This year the Penguins are the underdogs. Last time they meet in the playoffs, the Penguins won in game 7.
So who is the true underdog: The caps with their presidents trophy and their rock hard season or the true playoff team who beat the caps this season and in playoffs in 2009. Comment and watch this years playoffs. Don’t forget to follow me on Facebook and twitter
