The Premier League title race heats up after Manchester City and Liverpool drew 1-1 at Anfield. That result leaves Liverpool as joint leaders with Arsenal with City trailing by a point.
The Gunners on the other hand lead the Premier League table with a better goal difference than Liverpool and had Kai Havertz to thank as the German’s late goal extended their winning streak to games.
With the title race this close and with one point separating the top three it leaves fans predicting the season’s final results.
Manchester City
City are aiming to become the first team to win four consecutive Premier League titles. As per their nature Manchester City struggled in the first part of the season but their post-Christmas form has put them back into title contention.
Pep Guardiola’s side have been missing star man Kevin De Bruyne after the Belgian was injured at the start of the season but since his return, he has amassed one goal and five assists as City look to put pressure on Liverpool and Arsenal.
City have been further hampered as goalkeeper Ederson was ruled out for four weeks meaning he will miss the crucial game against Arsenal later this month. Last year’s champion League winners still need to face Arsenal, Tottenham, and Aston Villa as they look to win their 4th consecutive Premier League.
Liverpool
Liverpool have been the form team this season in the Premier League losing only two games. With this being Jürgen Klopp’s last season in charge of the Reds, it gives the players more motivation for the players to win the Premier League for the German who transformed Liverpool since his arrival.
The Reds are struggling with injuries now with several key players all absent; this includes Trent Alexander-Arnold, Allison Becker, Diogo Jota, Curtis Jones, Ryan Gravenberch, Ibrahima Konate, and Thiago. Klopp will be hoping that his players are able to return as soon as possible for the title showdown.
However, despite all the injuries the Reds have been extremely competitive in the league with their last defeat being against Arsenal last month. With players such as Connor Bradley stepping up and performing well it has reduced the burden on rushing players back.
Liverpool still needs to face Everton, Brighton, Manchester United, and Tottenham in their last ten games of the season. With the form of both City and Arsenal, Liverpool may need to win all their games to stand a competitive chance of winning the Premier League.
Arsenal
The Gunners has been on a rampage since their mid-season break to Dubai as since then, they have won eight games in a row and scored 44 goals whilst only conceding three in the process. Arsenal who fell short last year will be looking to make amends this year by winning their first Premier League title since 2004.
Manager Mikel Arteta will be hoping that this year his side are able to see out the final ten games of the season without dropping to many points. This season the Gunners started in imperious form dominating teams but a slump in form in December saw them drop to third in the Premier League standings.
Arteta will be hoping that certain players are able to return before the season ends with Takehiro Tomiyasu back in training following a calf injury and Jurrien Timber is also close to returning after suffering an ACL injury in the opening game of the season.
Arteta will be hoping that winger Gabriel Martinelli injury last weekend against Sheffield United is not as serious and that he is able to return after the international break.
Out of their rivals, Arsenal has difficult fixtures for the rest of the season, their next game is against Manchester City at the Etihad, they still need to face Chelsea, Tottenham, Manchester United, Brighton and Aston Villa.
With the Premier League embroiled in a three-horse race for the title, it remains to be seen as to who will lift the title at the end of season.
