Under Oliver Glasner’s guidance, Crystal Palace has enjoyed one of its most successful and unforgettable campaigns ever. The Eagles have shattered records and reached new heights. Here are five of their biggest achievements from this historic season.

Highest Premier League points tally – 52 points*

Palace’s 4-2 win over Wolves on Tuesday sealed their highest-ever points tally in a Premier League season. The victory took them to 52 points, surpassing their previous best of 49, which had been set twice.

The South London side still has one remaining game away at champions Liverpool so that they could finish with 55 points and a perfect ending to the season.

The match also marked Joel Ward’s final game at Selhurst Park. After 13 years and 365 appearances, he has retired as a club legend.

The Double Over Brighton

For the first time in the top flight since 1932-33, Crystal Palace completed the league double over fierce rivals Brighton.

Back in December 2024, the Eagles’ 3-1 win at the Amex, courtesy of an Ismaila Sarr brace and a goal from former loanee Trevor Chalobah, handed them short-term bragging rights.

These were then extended as they completed the double in March with a memorable 2-1 at Selhurst Park, thanks to Jean Philippe Mateta’s and Daniel Munoz’s goals.

These two victories will certainly live long in the memory of Eagles’ fans, not only for the bragging rights they brought but also for their significance in such a historic season.

The First Side to Win a Home Game With Nine Men

That historic win over Brighton also saw them set another record: they became the first team to win a home match while receiving two red cards.

Eddie Nketiah and Marc Guehi were both sent off late in the match, albeit they only had to play nine vs. ten due to the Seagulls’ Jan Paul van Hecke also being shown a red. A record is a record.

Players still threw their bodies in front of every shot, and it was a real gritty performance that would have made the fans proud.

The Eagles’ First Ever Major Trophy

Last but certainly not least, the most defining moment of Crystal Palace’s historic 2024/25 season came at Wembley Stadium, where last Saturday they lifted their first-ever major trophy in the club’s 164-year history.

Glasner’s men defeated Guardiola’s Manchester City 1-0 in the FA Cup final, thanks to a strike in the 16th minute from Eberechi Eze and goalkeeping heroics from Dean Henderson, who kept out an Omar Marmoush penalty.

The victory will be even sweeter for Palace, as they can now forget the heartbreaking defeats in both 1990 and 2016.

European Nights at Selhurst Park

Due to the FA Cup victory, Palace will play in the Europa League in the 2025/26 season, their first ever appearance in the competition, bringing a new level of challenge and opportunity.

It is evident that Oliver Glasner has revolutionised Crystal Palace, but he isn’t the type of manager to rest on his laurels. Even after a historic campaign, the Austrian will already have his sights on 2025/26, focused on how he can push his team to even greater heights.
