Sebastian Vettel a driver well renowned within the Formula 1 paddock, still creates a spark amongst whether the four-time world champion may return if he chooses to compete in Formula 1 once again. After his departure in 2022, the F1 community felt a wave of sadness as the former Aston Martin driver announced his retirement via social media.

But the next question is when?
2026 or 2027?

However, Sebastian may choose not to sign in 2026 to see how the cars reacts under the regulations but instead sign for 2027. Moreover, Lewis Hamilton’s shocking move to Ferrari has sparked a chain reaction for teams and drivers to solidify their positions for the 2025 Formula 1 season.
This means if Sebastian Vettel is available on the driver market in 2025, his chances of securing a seat would be low. But if the German were to return, what team would he sign for?
Audi or Mercedes?

However, many people say it will take some convincing to bring the four-time world champion out of retirement.
Also, Vettel has been parts of speculation that he will return to another German team, which being Mercedes. Why Mercedes? Due to Lewis Hamilton’s departure to Ferrari in 2025 that will create a void to fill to join the Brackley based team. Unfortunately, the rumours surrounding around Audi and Mercedes, the former Aston Martin driver has not commented on any of the rumours tying him to the German teams.
