We are now down to the Last 8 of the Europa League, and this is a chance for Erik Ten Hag’s United to push on for a second Europa League Title, which would be their sixth European Trophy in their history.

Standing in their way, are the six-time Europa League winners, who are having an indifferent season under José Luis Mendilibar.

The Red Devils come into Thursday night’s tie on the back of two victories against Everton and Brentford, Sevilla, on the other hand, is without a win in their last four games.

Head-To-Head

The two sides have met three times on the European stage, with Sevilla prevailing in the last two meetings in the 2020 Europa League and 2018 Champions League.

The big news for United is that their star man Marcus Rashford is likely to be ruled out with a groin injury after he limped off the field against Everton on Saturday.

“I can’t say in this moment, I’m not a doctor. We have to wait how bad or how good it is. Obviously he went off and we have to wait for the diagnosis and we will see.”

Ten Hag also took a dig at the scheduling of football matches.

“Some things you can’t avoid, but this was avoidable,”

“Why has the Premier League given us the late Sunday night game and the early Saturday game? I think it’s not right. He said.

“You are running a risk; players can’t recover that quickly. All science and research will tell you players need a certain time to recover.

Meanwhile, this could give the opportunity for the likes of Antony and Jadon Sancho to step up and prove to people that they aren’t just totally reliant on one individual to score all of the goals.

Bruno Fernandez continues to show why he has the potential of being one of the club’s great captains and is looking forward to the contest, especially after having lost in the Final to Villareal in 2021.

“It is normal when you concede a goal, everyone was mad, “It was not about me or Victor, what happened is nothing. It was normal, it is about looking out for each other. It will happen in a lot more teams too.”This thing will happen many more times in other teams. The most important thing now is seeing the mistakes we made and look forward to improving in the next games.”

Meanwhile, Sevilla will be managed by Jose Luis Mendibar, who took over from Jorge Sampaoli, after the Argentine was sacked by the Club for a string of poor results.

Mendibar’s last stint as a manager was at Eibar, where he managed to keep the Basque club in La Liga for six straight seasons, starting from 2015/16, before being relegated in 2021. He also took over Deportivo Alavés in December 2021 but was axed by the club four months later due to their poor form in La Liga.

Predictions

Judging by the form of both teams, you would have to say that United just about starts as favourites, given the fact that Sevilla’s form has been up and down, with two wins, two defeats, and a draw in their last five, where The Red Devils come into this tie on the back of two victories after their disappointing display against Newcastle United.

Score: 3-1 united
