Liverpool Manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed the news of Cody Gakpo being sidelined owing to a serious injury caused during the clash with Spurs.
The Dutch international appeared for Liverpool during the midweek EFL clash against Leicester City. The 24-year-old wasn’t slated to start against Tottenham as Darwin Nunez would be picked ahead of him.

On paper, Liverpool looked to be the stronger team however they failed to make a considerable impact during the entire match.
The Reds were able to carve out a few attempts on target which included Diaz’s controversial offside goal however Tottenham were able to draw first blood through a clinical finish by Son in the 36th minute.
Liverpool were able to level the score through an impressive strike by Cody Gakpo in the dying minutes of the first half. The visitors were on the back burner as they struggled to create chances in the second half and their situation got even worse with Diogo Jota and Cutis Jones being sent off.
Tottenham were able to grab the final three points as Joel Matip’s own goal in the 90th minute handed a narrow defeat to Liverpool. The shocking defeat at White Hart Lane brought Liverpool’s 17-game unbeaten streak to a grinding halt.
Cody Gakpo was a victim of a late challenge from Destiny Udogie before grabbing Liverpool’s equalizer. The striker was in a lot of discomfort and had to be immediately withdrawn.

Asked for an update on Gakpo’s condition after the game, Klopp revealed that the 24-year-old had to leave the stadium with his leg in a brace, and there are fears that his problem could be a severe one. (via sportsmole)
“The biggest problem of the game, to be honest… before Cody Gakpo scored, we got a free-kick and he got injured and he is now with a brace limping down the corridor,” Klopp said.
“That’s my biggest problem, to be honest, in this moment. We lost two [to red cards] and maybe a third player – really bad, really bad. So, yes, that’s something we have to deal with obviously.”
When inquired about how bad the injury was, Klopp responded by saying: “Possibly, I don’t know. He wore a brace. He scored a goal but afterwards, but after that shot he felt it even more. It was from the foul before.
