Week six brings us a third of the way through the 2025 NFL season. After last week, there are no more undefeated teams left, and fans are still not 100% sure which teams are the best in the league. Anything can happen, and the team who were heavily defeated in the week before could be big winners the following week.

So, let’s look back at week six in the 2025 NFL season, with a special focus on the NFC East.

The Cam Skattebo Show

The Philadelphia Eagles lost their undefeated record last week after a defeat to the Denver Broncos. This week, they hoped to return to the winning column with a primetime win over the New York Giants. Night games have been something that the Giants have always struggled with, but with their rookie quarterback/ running pair pairing of Jaxson Dart and Cam Skattebo, Giants fans believe that anything can happen.

The Eagles had the first possession of the game and were able to score the first points. Starting from their 40-yard line, Jalen Hurts led his offense down to the edge of the Giants’ red zone, but the drive would stall here. This setup gave kicker Jake Elliot a 42-yard field goal attempt, which was successful.

In response to this, the Giants quickly made it down to the Eagles’ 20-yard line on their first drive of the game. Then, Dart scrambled the length of the entire red zone to find the end zone for the rushing touchdown. This not only meant that the Giants took the lead, but it also meant Dart would have scored a touchdown on the first drive of his first three games. This lead was added to on the next Giants drive, with Dart finding Wan’Dale Robinson for a 35-yard touchdown pass. However, the extra point attempt from Irish kicker Jude McAtamney went wide.

The Eagles would get themselves back into the game on their next drive when Hurts found Dallas Goedert for a three-yard touchdown pass. Philadelphia would take the lead from their next drive, albeit in somewhat controversial fashion. We have become accustomed to the Eagles attempting a “tush push” when down at the one-yard line instead of throwing the ball. This is a play that many fans do not like, and a majority of people want it banned. On this drive, the Eagles attempted four consecutive tush pushes to find the end zone. They found it on the FOURTH attempt, when a pass to literally any player from Hurts could have seen it in one.

Contrast that touchdown with the next one scored in the game by the Giants on the following drive. New York made their way down to the Eagles’ 4-yard line, with Skattebo bulldozing the Eagles’ defense to find the endzone. He is fighting for every inch in search of the endzone, while the Eagles are just hoping that Hurts is pushed hard enough into the endzone.

This score meant that at halftime the Giants had a 20-17 lead over the Eagles.

The Giants would be able to add to their somewhat surprising lead early in the third quarter, when Skattebo again found the endzone for a one-yard rushing touchdown. This gave them a 10-point lead that the Eagles’ offense struggled to close.

It is worth noting that during the third quarter, Jaxson Dart was injured on a play and went into the medical tent. Luckily, it appeared that this was only for a precaution, and Dart returned on the next drive. This meant that Russell Wilson came into the field for three plays, did nothing, and was then collectively booed by the Giants fans. His career is all but over at this point.

Any attempt at an Eagles comeback was denied when a pass from Hurts in the Giants’ red zone was intercepted by Cor’Dale Flott and returned the ball deep into Eagles’ territory. This mistake would be costly, as Skattebo would again find the endzone for a one-yard rushing touchdown, his third of the game, to seal victory.

This meant that the New York Giants had defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 34-17.

This victory felt like a new era of Giants football was upon us. The young and exciting pairing of Dart and Skattebo has taken the NFL by storm, reinvigorating the struggling team. The win proves that anything is possible in this crazy NFL season, and maybe this team could make the playoffs. As for the Eagles, they were not expecting to lose. But they did embarrassingly. The Giants improve to a 2-4 record, while the Eagles fall to 4-2.

Next week, New York visits the Denver Broncos, while the Eagles face the Minnesota Vikings.

Another Cowboys defeat

Another struggling side in the NFC East is the Dallas Cowboys. They have only had one game this season where they have been the stronger side, and that was against the New York Jets (who anyone can beat). This week, they faced the Carolina Panthers. Could they make the Cowboys’ season worse?

The Cowboys had the first possession of the half, but were unable to do anything with it. In response to this, the Panthers’ offense, led by Bryce Young, was able to move down to the Cowboys’ 13-yard line on their first drive. The drive stalled here, but kicker Ryan Fitzgerald made the 31-yard field goal to give them the early lead.

This lead did not last long, and Dak Prescott brought his Cowboys’ offense down to the Panthers’ five-yard line on the next drive. They could not get any further, and Brandon Aubrey kicked a 23-yard field goal to level the scores.

Carolina would then make a mistake. Young’s pass was intercepted by the Cowboys’ offense, and Dallas would begin the subsequent drive from the Panthers’ 12-yard line. Four plays later, Prescott found Hunter Luepke for a three-yard touchdown pass to take the lead. But, this lead was short-lived, as Young successfully found Tetairoa  McMillian for a 19-yard touchdown pass.

In response to this, the Cowboys would again find the endzone and take the lead, this time through a 19-yard touchdown pass from Prescott to Jake Ferguson. The Panthers would continue this scoring streak on their next drive, but would lose ground on the Cowboys as Fitzgerald made a 55-yard field goal for three points.

This meant that at halftime, the Cowboys had a 17-13 lead over the Panthers.

Carolina had the first possession of the second half and would be able to retake the lead through a 36-yard touchdown pass from Young to Rico Dowdle. In response to this, the Cowboys were unable to immediately reply with a score as they did throughout the first half. They were able to re-take the lead on their following drive, however. Prescott found George Pickens for a 34-yard touchdown pass to give them a four-point lead going into the fourth quarter.

This four-point lead quickly became a three-point deficit when the Panthers gained possession. Young found McMillan for a two-yard touchdown pass to put Carolina into a strong position to win the game. The Cowboys would respond to this with an Aubrey field goal from 28 yards out, again tying the game.

The next two drives ended in punts. With time slowly running out and the score level, the Panthers were given the ball, needing just a field goal to win the game. Young and the company slowly made their way down to the Cowboys’ 15-yard line. Then, as time ran out, Fitzgerald successfully made a 33-yard field goal to give the Carolina Panthers a 30-27 win over the Dallas Cowboys.

This win helps the Panthers with their quest to stay in contention for the NFC South title and marks their second consecutive win by three points. As for the Cowboys, this defeat does not help their image. The Panthers improve to 3-3 for the season, while the Cowboys fall to 2-3-1.

Next week, Carolina faces the New York Jets ( so it should improve to 4-3), while the Cowboys face the Washington Commanders.

The Battle of Number 1 and 2 Picks

Staying in the NFC East, the Washington Commanders faced the Chicago Bears in the second game on Monday night. This is the first meeting between the top two picks of the 2024 NFL Draft, Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels. Their careers have so far gone in different directions. Williams has not been able to make a massive impact on the Bears, while Daniels took the Commanders to the NFC Championship game in his rookie season. Daniels has been plagued with injuries going into his second year, but has now fully returned to action. Could he lead his team to a win?

The Bears had the first possession of the game and were able to score the first set of points. Williams brought his offense down to the Commanders’ 29-yard line, where the drive would stall. This set up kicker Jake Moody with a 47-yard field goal attempt, which he successfully made. Things got better for the Bears on the next drive after Daniels’ pass to the goal line was intercepted by Chicago’s defense. The subsequent drive led to a widening of the lead through a 48-yard field goal from Moody.

The mistakes would continue for the Commanders, as they would fumble the ball in their own territory on the next drive. The ball would be recovered by the Bears, who would be able to move down to the Commanders’ one-yard line. Here, Williams found the endzone for the rushing touchdown.

Washington would finally have some luck on offense when the team was able to drive down to the Bears’ 22-yard line. Here, Daniels found Chris Moore for the touchdown pass to get them back into the game. A missed field goal by Matt Gay from 50 yards out denied them the opportunity to close the lead before halftime further.

This meant that as the teams returned to the locker rooms, the Bears had a 13-7 lead over the Commanders.

Washington was able to score the field goal that they missed earlier in the game to open the second half, with Gay finding the uprights from 53 yards out. The Bears would match this score on their first drive of the half, with Moody kicking one from 41 yards out to give them a six-point lead.

This lead ceased to exist after the next Commander’s drive. Daniels and company made their way down to the Bears’ 33-yard line before the quarterback found Luke McCaffrey for the touchdown pass to give Washington a one-point lead.

Chicago had a good opportunity to regain the lead as the final quarter began, with Moody attempting a 48-yard field goal. However, this was blocked by the Commander’s defense, and the team turned the ball over on downs due to this block. This block would make things harder for the Bears. On the following drive, Daniels found Zach Ertz for a six-yard touchdown pass, extending the Commanders’ lead to eight points.

The Bears needed to find the end zone with their next drive if they were going to have any chance of staying in this game. Luckily, that is what they were able to do. Williams found D’Andre  Swift for a 55-yard touchdown pass. Chicago then attempted a two-point conversion to tie the game, but this was unsuccessful.

The next two drives ended in punts, which still kept Washington’s lead alive with time running out. But then, the Commanders made a mistake at the worst possible time. With three minutes left to play, the Commanders were on the Bears’ 40-yard line. Here, Daniels fumbled the ball, and the Bears recovered it. This meant that all Chicago needed to do to win the game was to score a field goal.

On the final drive of the game, Williams was able to move his offense down to the Commanders’ 20-yard line as time nearly ran out. This allowed Moody to make a game-winning 38-yard field goal. He successfully made this kick, meaning that the Chicago Bears had defeated the Washington Commanders 25-24.

The defeat for the Commanders means that the only team in the NFC East to win this week was the New York Giants. The defeat means that Washington falls to 3-3 for the season, while the victorious Bears improve to a 3-2 record.

Next week, the Bears face the New Orleans Saints, while the Commanders play the Dallas Cowboys.

What happened in the other games?

We had the second London game of the season this week as the Denver Broncos played the winless New York Jets. These games are always low-scoring affairs, and this was no different. However, some history was made by the Jets in this game. Jets quarterback Justin Fields was sacked nine times, and this meant that he made -10 yards of offense, the worst performance in Jets history. This also means that everyone at the Tottenham stadium, those watching at home, and most people on earth performed better than Justin Fields on Sunday. Denver would win this uninspiring game 13-11.

Coming out of this weekend, the Indianapolis Colts are the best team in the AFC. This week, they faced the Arizona Cardinals, a team that has struggled to begin the season. Two touchdowns from Daniel Jones and another strong performance from Johanathan Taylor gave the Colts a 31-27 win.

The Los Angeles Chargers came into this week on a two-game losing streak and hoped to return to the win column against the Miami Dolphins. With under a minute left to play, Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa found Darren Waller for a touchdown pass to give Miami a slim one-point lead. However, a final rally from Justin Herbert set up Cameron Dicker (the Chargers’ Kicker) with a 33-yard field goal attempt to win the game. He made this, giving the Chargers a 29-27 win.

After their surprise win over the New York Giants last week, the New Orleans Saints hoped to build a winning streak by beating the New England Patriots. We saw another strong performance from the Pats’ quarterback Drake Maye, who threw three touchdowns in the 25-19 win, to put them in the lead of the AFC East.

The Pittsburgh Steelers returned from their Irish win to face the Cleveland Browns, who themselves had just returned from London. New Browns quarterback Dillion Gabriel had 52 passing attempts in this game. He was successful in 29 of these and threw for 221 yards, but no touchdowns. Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers threw for the endzone twice to help Pittsburgh record a 23-9 win over the Browns, who fall to 1-5.

The Seattle Seahawks faced the Jacksonville Jaguars this week in a game that, on paper, could have gone either way. In reality, the Seahawks were the stronger team, recording a 20-12 win over the Jaguars.

The Baltimore Ravens’ season got worse this weekend when they faced the Los Angeles Rams. They were outplayed entirely, with the Rams recording a simple 17-3 win over them. The defeat means that Baltimore falls to 1-5 for the season.

In a battle of two one-win teams, the Tennessee Titans faced the Las Vegas Raiders. This was another game where one team outplayed their opponents throughout, with the Raiders clearly being the stronger team. They would record a 20-10 win over the Titans, and lead the Titans to fire coach Brian Callahan.

The Cincinnati Bengals picked up a new quarterback this week to replace the struggling Jake Browning. 40-year-old Joe Flacco. His first game for another new team was against the Green Bay Packers, whom he had defeated in week three with the Cleveland Browns. He would be unsuccessful here, with the Packers recording a 27-18 win.

If the Colts are the best team in the AFC, then it is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who are the strongest in the NFC. This week, they faced off against the San Francisco 49ers, who have taken to Mac Jones as their starting quarterback. His time replacing Brock Purdy may be over, as he threw two interceptions in this game without any TDs. On the other side, Baker Mayfield put his name into contention for MVP, throwing for two touchdowns as Tampa Bay recorded a 30-19 win.

Sunday night brought up what could have been a monumental clash between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Detroit Lions. Instead, this game would be remembered more for the post-game brawl than for what happened during the game. The Chiefs would win this game 30-17.

The Buffalo Bills experienced their first loss of the season last week, but hoped to regain any lost momentum when they faced the Atlanta Falcons. Josh Allen again struggled to get any offense going, with Falcons running back Bijan Robinson recording 170 rushing yards and one touchdown in the Falcons’ 24-14 win over the Bills.

So, that was week six in the 2025 NFL season. Next week, the Rams face the Jags in the final London game, the Colts face what would be their second test of the season against the Los Angeles Chargers, and Tampa Bay faces Detroit in what could be the game of the week.
