Both Shane Snater and Luke Hollman would take 4 wickets each for Essex and Middlesex respectively in Tuesday’s Royal London Cup games.

Tuesday’s Hundred games between Northern Superchargers and London Spirit will be reviewed in tomorrow’s column as well as this evening’s games between Birmingham Phoenix and Oval Invincibles.

Gloucestershire vs Essex (Group A)

Essex won the toss and elected to field first.

Chris Dent would be caught by Sir Alastair Cook off the bowling of Shane Snater without scoring before Tom Lace would be LBW to Ryan ten Doeschate for 19. James Bracey would be run out by Michael Pepper for 1 before Ben Charlesworth would be caught by Will Buttleman off the bowling of Simon Harmer for 22.

Graeme van Buuren would be caught & bowled by ten Doeschate for 11 before a 99-run partnership between Jack Taylor and George Scott would be ended with the former caught by Harmer off the bowling of Aron Nijjar for 62. Matt Taylor would be caught by Tom Westley off Snater’s bowling for 11 before Scott would be dismissed the following ball as he was caught by Nijjar for 64. Josh Shaw would be dismissed a couple of balls later, caught by Westley, without scoring with Jared Warner the final man out, caught Harmer off the bowling of Allison for a golden duck – the final 4 wickets falling in just 5 balls.

Cook would be bowled by M. Taylor for 5 before Buttleman would be bowled by Smith for 14. Pepper would be caught by Charlesworth off the same bowler for 6 before Josh Rymell would be bowled by van Buuren for 30.

ten Doeschate would be caught by Lace off the same bowler for 5 before Adam Wheater would be LBW to M. Taylor for 1. Harmer would be stumped by Bracey off the bowling of van Buuren for 9 before Westley would be the final wicket to fall, run out by M. Taylor for 71 with Nijjar (32) and Snater (21) getting Essex over the line off the final ball of their allotted 50 overs.

Peter Handscomb would be caught by the same fielder off the bowling of Jack Morley for 14 before Robbie White would be caught behind by George Lavelle off the bowling of Luke Wells for 18.

Jack Davies would be caught by the same fielder off the bowling of Tom Bailey for 7 before Luke Hollman would be caught by Wells later in the same over a second-ball duck. Mark Stoneman would be caught by Nick Selman off the bowling of Michael Hogan off the first ball of the game before Ryan Patel would be caught by the same fielder off the bowling of Lukas Carey for 22. Hashim Amla would be caught behind by Tom Cullen off the same bowler for 4 before Jamie Smith would be caught by the same fielder off the bowling of Joe Cooke for 3.

Nico Reifer would be caught by Hamish Rutherford off the bowling of Andrew Salter for 1 (the visitors sitting at 39/5 at this stage) before Tim David would be caught by Selman off the same bowler for 11. Nick Kimber would be LBW to Salter for 16 before Rikki Clarke would be caught by Billy Root off the bowling of Andy Gorvin for 35.
