Rain Ruined Friday’s Royal London Cup Program

Rain ruined Friday’s Royal London program with only 2 of the 5 games seeing more than half a dozen overs.

Friday’s Hundred action will be reviewed tomorrow morning alongside the London Spirit vs Trent Rockets games that took place on Thursday and the Welsh Fire vs Manchester Originals and Northern Superchargers vs Oval Invincibles that take place today.

Middlesex vs Hampshire (Group A)

There was no play due to rain.

Middlesex travel to Lancashire on Tuesday while Hampshire host Lancashire tomorrow.

Sussex vs Kent (Group A)

Kent would win the toss and elect to field first in a game that was reduced to 29 overs per side.

Ali Orr would be caught by Marcus O’Riordan off the bowling of Grant Stewart for 9 before Tom Haines would be run out by Heino Kuhn for 3. Tom Clark would be caught by Matt Milnes off the bowling of Hamidullah Qadri for 44 before Travis Head would be caught by Darren Stevens off the bowling of Nathan Gilchrist for 52 off 37 balls.

Ben Brown would be bowled by the same bowler for 38 off 29 balls before Oliver Carter would be caught by a substitute fielder off the bowling of Gilchrist for 2. David Wiese would be the final wicket to fall, caught by Stewart off the bowling of Milnes for 31 off the final ball of the innings with James Coles 13 not out at the end of the innings.

Ollie Robinson was the only wicket to fall in the reply, caught behind by Carter off the bowling of Coles for 23 with Tawanda Muyeye (24) and Harry Finch (0) not out as the rain returned.

Sussex host Gloucestershire tomorrow while Kent travel to Essex at the same time.

Glamorgan vs Derbyshire (Group B)

Derbyshire won the toss and elected to field first but there was no play due to rain.

Glamorgan host Surrey on Tuesday while Derbyshire travel to Northamptonshire tomorrow.

Nottinghamshire vs Somerset (Group B)

Somerset would win the toss and elected to field first.

Sol Budinger would be caught by Drissel off the bowling of Green for 2 before Peter Trego was the other wicket to fall, LBW to Baker, for 13 with Ben Slater and Matthew Montgomery would be 42 and 31 not out respectively before the rain came.

Nottinghamshire host Leicestershire tomorrow while Somerset host Yorkshire at the same time.

Northamptonshire vs Surrey (Group B)

Surrey won the toss and elected to field first.

Ricardo Vasconcelos was the only wicket to fall as he was caught by Dan Moriarty off the bowling of Conor McKerr for 17 with Emilio Gay and Ben Curran getting to 8 and 0 not out respectively before the rain came.

Northamptonshire host Derbyshire tomorrow while Surrey travel to Glamorgan on Tuesday.
