The Money Fight

Reading Time: 3 minutes

It’s the fight that sports fans are waiting to witness. The prospect of a fight between Floyd ‘money’ Mayweather and the cocky Irishman in Conor McGregor is something that has most sports fans interested. There have been talks of this bout for roughly a year now, so to see it come to fruition is exactly what needs to happen.

In December last year, Conor McGregor was granted his boxing licence. Due to this, the rumours about the possibility of a fight intensified, only for more talk to come of it. That’s what both of these fighters have in common. They are both entertainments and they can both play the side of the villain so well. But now, it’s time for the talk to stop and the training to start.

“Floyd’s coming out of retirement and hasn’t fought in a a little bit. Conor has that big left hand, he’s got power.” – UFC middleweight fighter Michael Bisping

“For Conor McGregor, I’m coming out of retirement just to fight Conor McGregor. I don’t want to hear no more excuses about the money, about the UFC. Sign the paper with the UFC, so you can fight me in June. Simple and plain, let’s fight in June.” – Flyoyd Mayweather

It’s an interesting prospect, but the reality is that it would be fairly one sided. One of it not the strongest facet of Conor McGregor’s UFC game, is his kicking game. This is something that he obviously can’t do in a boxing ring. Floyd is a professional boxer, or at least was. He was the best of the best, unmatched by any of his opponents. His 49-0 career record shows that he is no easy beat, and he is versing guys who have boxed their whole lives.

Despite Floyd not training for a while, his ability will still be there. He won’t be as good as he was, but he won’t be far off. It’s difficult to say as i admire both fighters but, this fight could be fairly one sided. The thing about boxing though, is that all it takes is one punch. One lucky punch can end a fight, and that is all Conor needs. It isn’t as if McGregor isn’t an athlete, he is, and a top one at that. His boxing game in the UFC is still something to be feared, but can he match a real boxer?

Both fighters can talk, but both also love their money. On the 13th of March 201
7, reports that Dana White (UFC President) has offered both Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather approximately $25 million (USD). This is obviously a huge payout, so why doesn’t the fight happen?

The fight may actually be further along than what we think. Reports from FloCombat.com indicate that the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas has been booked for a fight between the two athletes. If this is true, the bout is due to occur on June 10th.

“Sources close to FloCombat have confirmed T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas has put the June 10 date on hold for the mega-fight between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor.”

The fight hasn’t officially been confirmed, so at the moment it remains a rumour. But after such a long time of waiting for this fight, it finally feels as if the fight may be becoming a reality. More on the topic will hopefully be revealed sooner rather than later.

“Love him or hate him (McGregor) he’s done a tremendous job in the UFC and if he was to take out perhaps one of the greatest boxers who ever lived, that would be something, that would be incredible and you can’t deny it.”

Sports as We Know It May Never Look the Same Again

This lockdown has given us so many of the bad things we never really thought we'd see: widespread job loss, rampant hospitalization and deaths, and the major, sticking-out-like-a-sore-thumb kind of problems in society. But, if there's something that everyone felt, it's the loss of sports. Many people said that sports is only important to sports fans, but it's becoming more evident that the purpose of sports isn't just exclusively athletic. Now, it seems like...

If you've ever had the privilege of watching Israel Adesanya fight, you know that he is the perfect example of handcrafted precision. Memorable Test Match Innings: Kevin Pietersen at the Oval 15 years on

“I saw this innings via a social distancing gap between myself and the television. To truly have the visceral thrill of Pietersen’s 158, you needed to be at The Oval on 12 September 2005.” “Just because I've got a stupid haircut or diamond earrings, it's not going to make me cover drive a ball any differently.” Kevin Pietersen arrived on the international scene in full technicolour. Russian GP – Race Preview

Russian Grand Prix can be a boring race so let's hope this race gets off to a great start. The only memory I have of the Russian GP is Valtteri Bottas letting Lewis Hamilton win. Last race at Mugello was an exciting race. With two red flags and one horrible crash. And Ferrari 1000 celebration wasn't the best either, but that might be because of the strict rules now during COVID 19. So I am happy...

Benny Leonard: Always A Champion

If you sat down with a group of boxing fans under the age of say, 50, and began to talk about whether Benny Leonard really is a Top-10 all-time fighter, you'd probably have a cacophony of voices barking at you about how great "Sugar" Ray really was. Tell them you were talking about Benny Leonard though, and you might hear a lot of "Who's that?" from the same group. But Benny Leonard most definitely belongs...

In what has been a challenging year for many rugby fans and mainly the players, the Southern Hemisphere's Rugby Championship 2020 tournament has just been confirmed for the back end of the season.
