He stands at 5ft 10 inches and moves around with great athleticism. For a defensive midfielder, his weight, height, strength, and good ball control give him an extraordinary advantage in his duels. Moises Caicedo joined Brighton & Hove Albion FC in 2020 and two years later, the interest by other clubs for him, makes him the star focus of the August 2023/24 English transfer League season.

He played about 25 matches for Independiente Del Valle, of Ecuador, then joined Brighton FC, in 2020 for about 4.5 million British Pounds. He never dazzled immediately at Brighton and was loaned in 2021 to Beerschot FC of Belgium.  Moises Caicedo returned a year later when his parent club recalled him. Brighton FC was short of midfielders and this gave him his breakthrough.

The transfer battle for Moises Caicedo

One year after making his full debut for Brighton & Hove Albion FC, Moises Caicedo had become a beautiful bride to Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, and many other big clubs. He won the Brighton FC Player of the Season and also the Brighton’s Players’ Player of the Season title. Arsenal FC offered 60 million British Pounds for his services during the January 2023 transfer window. On the 27th of January 2023, his agents released the following statement;

“I am grateful to Brighton for giving me the chance to come to the Premier League and I feel I have always done my best,”

 “I always play football with a smile and with heart,”

 “I am proud to be able to bring in a record transfer fee for Brighton which would allow them to reinvest it and help the club continue to be successful.

“I am the youngest of 10 siblings from a poor upbringing in Santa Domingo in Ecuador. My dream always to be the most decorated player in the history of Ecuador.

“The fans have taken me into their hearts and they will always be in my heart so I hope they can understand why I want to take this magnificent opportunity.”

The 2023/24 English Premier League started in August and Moses Caicedo has played six out of the eight matches. Coach Mauricio Pochettino is still getting the players to adapt to his philosophy and currently, they’ve won three consecutive matches. Virtually all the players in the first team are in their first season with the club. In his first match, he gave out a penalty which was converted, and has made minimal impact after that. There have been injury concerns around him, though, his current form does not compare to his time at Amex Road where he made his name. The league is still early and we expect him to adapt to his new environment. With that sorted Moises Caicedo should be able to get himself together

He performed brilliantly on Saturday against Burnley FC and has gradually begun to win over the Chelsea FC fans. His best is yet to come; hopefully, he will surpass his dreams!
