After three promising performances against Fulham, Middlesbrough, and Aston Villa, Chelsea were yet again embarrassed on the road 4-1 by Premier League leaders Liverpool.

While losing to Klopp’s Reds may seem normal in terms of the gulf in class between the two teams, what will not go down well amongst the Chelsea fans, is the way the team capitulated, especially after Ben Chilwell got booked for diving in the 34 minutes.

The foul on Christopher Nkunku was a stone wall penalty, but the way Chilwell and Conor Gallagher went down in the box, summed up Chelsea’s lacklustre performance at Anfield.

Putting the Blues aside for the moment, that was a ruthless display of football from Liverpool, who showed us why they are serious about winning the title.

The only negative that you could say about that performance, was Darwin Núñez, who could quite have scored a hat-trick in this game.

Coming back to Chelsea, the matches against the top six clubs have been average in the sense that they have picked up five points from six games.

However, even when they have lost against them, there have been games where they have been competitive, and could quite easily have won if they had a ruthless striker.

While the Owners are asking for patience from the fans, there comes a point where this is a bit too much to bear, and that point is now.

We are just over three weeks away from the EFL Cup Final, and there is no doubt that Klopp and his Reds will be licking their lips at the prospect of a 10th League Cup, especially with the form that his side has shown.

While most fans are calling for the Argentine to be axed from the club, the Owners are willing to be patient with Pochettino, but how long can they wait?

If you look at where Chelsea is in the table, they are just a point outside Europe, but several teams are fighting for a place in Europe, and every point dropped will be costly.

And even though capturing the League Cup can be another way of making it into the Conference League, it would require a herculean effort to knock Liverpool off their guard, especially after Wednesday night’s performance.

What is even more baffling, is the lack of leaders in the club.

Thiago Silva, the most experienced player at the club, looks far from the player that we saw at Paris Saint-Germain.

Now surely that is where he along with Pochettino needs to sit down with the whole squad and find out what the problem is. Why are they underperforming?

Whether it’s Pochettino’s training regime or in-game tactics, these issues need to be dealt with immediately, if the Blues want to salvage their season.

Sunday’s game at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers is now a crucial game, not just for Chelsea but also for Pochettino, who at the moment is facing plenty of scrutiny not just by the fans, but the media as well.
