After securing Champions League football in the latter stages of 2021-2022? Tottenham Hotspur was knocked out at the hands of AC Millan following a 1-0 defeat on away goals.

After the two back-to-back victories against Chelsea and West Ham, there was some hope of a turnaround in fortunes for the north London club, however, the defeat against Wolves followed by last night’s goalless draw has somewhat seeped the life out of Spurs, as they go through yet another season without a trophy.

Kane’s Future In Doubt?

Besides the team’s indifferent performances on the pitch, there have been huge speculations and doubts about Harry Kane and his future at Spurs.

The England Captain has scored 267 goals in all competitions for Spurs and is level with the club’s legend Jimmy Greaves. Surely, he must be thinking at the back of his mind that he needs a trophy.

“Where we’re at as a club, we should be winning trophies,” “The top four [being the only target] is a consequence of not playing as well as we want to play. For sure, it’s not enough for this club. I totally understand the fans’ frustration. Top four [alone] is not good enough for anyone at this club, especially the fans. They have the right to voice their opinion.

As a fan, when you hear this, sort of sums up the mood of the Club, and you just sense that some of the players and fans have lost their patience not just with Conte, but with Club as well.

“This season, excuse the word, it’s been s***, because I don’t have minutes, I suffered a little with the injury.” “But, when I enter the field, I give my life. I came from two games well, I think that’s it, I think I should have played and I don’t have to cry about it.” “Yesterday [Tuesday], they asked me to take a test at the gym, that if I was good I would go to the game and, at the time of the game, they left me on the bench,” he claimed on Wednesday after the match. “These are things that it is not possible to understand.’

This statement by the Brazilian forward sums up the mood of the club at the present moment, and although it is speculated that Conte will leave at the end of the season, a place in next season’s Champions League is still very much on the cards, with 12 games remaining.

And that’s why although it is yet another trophyless season, Spurs must kick on and cement their status as a Champions League team for next season, even if Pochettino or whoever is set to replace Conte, should he leave in the summer.

Nottingham Forrest, Southampton, and Everton are the next set of fixtures for Conte’s side, and although they look like tricky affairs, it is crucial for them to get some wins under their belt, not just to gain points, but also to boost the morale of the Club.

“The situation is really clear. It’s one year and two months since I started, I always say the same thing, we need time and patience. At this moment we don’t have a solid foundation to be competitive and win. We try to work and get the right players to get the right foundation and try to find the solution in the transfer market for the right team.

“I have a great relationship with the chairman. I have a contract until June, I’m ready to work at Tottenham. At the end there will be a decision.
