Can The Conference League Spark Light Into Chelsea’s Future?

After securing their place back in the Champions League, Chelsea completed the set of trophies by beating Real Betis 4-1 in the Europa Conference League final.

Goals from Enzo Fernández, Nicholas Jackson, Jadon Sancho, and Enzo Fernández were enough to secure the victory, after Abdessamad Ezzalzouli gave Betis the lead in the ninth minute.

The tournament was dominated by the Blues, which featured 42 goals and five clean sheets.

The Conference League is also the seventh piece of European silverware, after two Champions Leagues, two Europa Leagues, and two Cup Winners’ Cups.

Chelsea Boss Enzo Maresca was delighted with his team’s second-half performance, and is hoping the season of 2024=25 can kickstart them into achieving better and brighter things.

‘Hopefully, it can be a starting point [toward further success in the future], he said. ‘To build a winning mentality, you need to win games and competitions. For sure, the trophy we won tonight will make us better. ‘But also, I’m very proud of the path, the journey, we have done in the Premier League. That is the most difficult competition in the world, you need to be consistent over 38 games, and these players showed that.

Huge Summer Ahead

With Chelsea back in Europe’s premier competition, it’s going to be a huge summer ahead. They not only need to bolster their squad with new signings, but they are also involved in the FIFA Club World Cup, which begins on 15th June.

That’s where the transfer window will be highly crucial in terms of bolstering their squad, so they can compete in all competitions.

This is why they need more options, particularly in attacking areas; hence, names like Hugo Ekitike, Liam Delap, and Viktor Gyokeres are being mentioned as potential targets.

If the Blues can get two or even all three of those names through the door, it could be the making of something special for the club in the future.
