Liverpool Crowned Premier League Champions

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Tonight we saw Liverpool Crowned Premier League Champions for the first time in 30 years.

Following Manchester City’s 2-1 defeat against Chelsea, Liverpool has now claimed it’s first league title in the premier league era. No one can deny that Liverpool deserved to crowned Premier League champions, since the start of the season, Liverpool have shown to be a stand out candidate go all the way.

Liverpool were brushing teams aside with ease, the form they have shown throughout the season, its was evident that only one team was gonna runaway with the title. By Christmas time the gap with between Liverpool and Manchester City was too big for City to mount a challenge, the Red kept picking up more points and they were just too far to catch. They were simply outplaying each team they came up against with they eye-catching style of football.

Before the season got suspended due to coronavirus crisis, Liverpool recorded 27 wins from 29 league games with 25pts clear from Manchester City.

Manchester City put up a great battle throughout the season, they tried to cut the points difference on numerous occasions. However, Liverpool were just steamrolling teams week in and week out.

Jurgen Klopp becomes the first Liverpool manager to win the league since Kenny Dalglish in 1990, during the thirty year title drought Liverpool have tried  with several different managers. The likes of Graeme Souness, Roy Evans, Gerard Houllier, Rafa Benitez, Roy Hodgson, Kenny Dalglish (2nd time as manager) and Brendan Rodgers, all have failed where Jurgen Klopp succeeded.

Will now see Liverpool dominate for years come after witnessing the way the team went about their business?

Liverpool Crowned Premier League Champions

Liverpool are only going to improve for next season under Jurgen Klopp and will come back stronger. Liverpool came close to winning the title last season, only to narrowly miss out by a point.

speaking to Sky Sports, Jurgen Klopp said:

“There’s a sense of relief because after the three-month interruption no one knew how the season would come back. This is for all of the fans. I hope they celebrate it, it’s all in our hearts and our heads, we do it all together and it’s a joy to do this for the fans.

“I have no words. It is unbelievable, much more than I thought was possible. Becoming champions with this club is absolutely incredible. This is for Kenny, for Stevie – everyone! The Manchester City game was really tense, I didn’t want to be involved. It was intense but it is incredible from my players. What they have done over the last few years in exceptional and it’s a pure joy for me to coach them.

“This is a big moment, I have no real words. I am completely overwhelmed. I never thought I would feel like this…”

Jurgen Klopp was full of emotion after the game, celebrating what his side just achieved.

This title is Liverpool’s first title in the Premier League era after picking up their 19th crown, having won their previous title’s in the old first division pre 1992 Liverpool are now closing in on Manchester United’s record haul of 20 titles, Jurgen Klopp will now go down in Anfield folklore.

The German will now join a list of legendary managers to win the league at Liverpool, he joins the likes of Bob Paisley, Bill Shankly and Kenny Dalglish as managerial greats to win the holy grail in English football.

Sports as We Know It May Never Look the Same Again

This lockdown has given us so many of the bad things we never really thought we'd see: widespread job loss, rampant hospitalization and deaths, and the major, sticking-out-like-a-sore-thumb kind of problems in society. But, if there's something that everyone felt, it's the loss of sports. Many people said that sports is only important to sports fans, but it's becoming more evident that the purpose of sports isn't just exclusively athletic. Now, it seems like...

When It Comes To Israel Adesanya – Believe The Hype

If you've ever had the privilege of watching Israel Adesanya fight, you know that he is the perfect example of handcrafted precision. In his most recent fight, so many people felt this would be the fight that would finally DE-thrown the champ.  They felt Paulo Costa had the advantage because of his size, his strength and his overall power. If you've seen Costa, you know he's like a modern day Hercules. Costa's punches are explosive and...

Memorable Test Match Innings: Kevin Pietersen at the Oval 15 years on

“I saw this innings via a social distancing gap between myself and the television. To truly have the visceral thrill of Pietersen’s 158, you needed to be at The Oval on 12 September 2005.” “Just because I've got a stupid haircut or diamond earrings, it's not going to make me cover drive a ball any differently.” Kevin Pietersen arrived on the international scene in full technicolour. In early 2005, KP entered the lion’s den of his...

Russian GP – Race Preview

Russian Grand Prix can be a boring race so let's hope this race gets off to a great start. The only memory I have of the Russian GP is Valtteri Bottas letting Lewis Hamilton win. Last race at Mugello was an exciting race. With two red flags and one horrible crash. And Ferrari 1000 celebration wasn't the best either, but that might be because of the strict rules now during COVID 19. So I am happy...

Benny Leonard: Always A Champion

If you sat down with a group of boxing fans under the age of say, 50, and began to talk about whether Benny Leonard really is a Top-10 all-time fighter, you'd probably have a cacophony of voices barking at you about how great "Sugar" Ray really was. Tell them you were talking about Benny Leonard though, and you might hear a lot of "Who's that?" from the same group. But Benny Leonard most definitely belongs...

In what has been a challenging year for many rugby fans and mainly the players, the Southern Hemisphere's Rugby Championship 2020 tournament has just been confirmed for the back end of the season.
