Smit Sees Namibia Win In Super 12s Against Scotland

An unbeaten 32 from JJ Smit after taking a wicket sees Namibia get their first win in the Super 12s in Wednesday’s ICC T20 World Cup action. In the other game, England would defeat Bangladesh thanks to Jason Roy’s half-century.

Bangladesh vs England

Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat first.

Liton Das would be caught by Liam Livingstone off the bowling of Moeen Ali for 9 before Mohammad Naim would be caught by Chris Woakes off the same bowler the following ball for 5. Shakib Al Hasan would be caught by Adil Rashid off the bowling of Woakes for 4 before Mushfiqur Rahim would be LBW to Livingstone for 29.

Afif Hossain would be run out by Tymal Mills (pictured below) for 5 before Mahmudullah would be caught by Woakes off the bowling of Livingstone for 19. Mahedi Hasan would be caught by the same fielder off the bowling of Mills for 11 before Nurul Hasan would be caught behind by Jos Buttler for 16. Mustafizur Rahman would be bowled by Mills off the final ball of the innings for a golden duck with Nasum Ahmed finishing 19 not out off 9 balls.

Buttler would be caught by Naim off the bowling of Ahmed before Jason Roy (pictured below) would be the other man out, caught by Ahmed off the bowling of Shoriful Islam, for 61 off 38 balls – Dawid Malan (28) and Jonny Bairstow (8) were the not out batsmen.

Namibia vs Scotland

Namibia would win the toss and elect to field first.

George Munsey would be bowled by Ruben Trumpelmann off the first ball of the match for a golden duck before Calum MacLeod would be caught behind by Zane Green off the same bowler without scoring. Richie Berrington would be LBW for another golden duck off the fourth ball of the game before Craig Wallace would be LBW to David Wiese for 4.

Opener Matthew Cross would be bowled by Jan Frylinck for 19 before Michael Leask (pictured below) would be bowled by JJ Smit for 44 off 27 balls. Mark Watt would be caught by Gerhard Erasmus off the same bowler for 3 before Chris Greaves would be the final wicket to fall, run out by Wiese off the final ball of the innings, for 25 – Josh Davey was 5 not out.

Michael van Lingen would be caught by Berrington off the bowling of Safyaan Sharif for 18 before Green would be caught by Munsey off the bowling of Greaves for 9. Erasmus would be bowled by Leask for 4 before opener Craig Williams would be stumped by Cross off the bowling of Watt for 23.

Wiese would be caught by Watt off the bowling of Leask for 16 before Frylinck would be the final wicket to fall, caught by MacLeod off the bowling of Brad Wheal, for 2 with Smit (pictured below, 32) and Pikky Ya France (0) the not out batsmen as Namibia record their first win in the Super 12s.
