Several factors ultimately led to Liverpool winning the Premier League this year. A lot of the credit has to go to Arne Slot, who navigated the Reds to their first title since 2020. Despite clinching the Prem over Arsenal with roughly a month to go in the season, it did come with its obstacles. LFC overcame adversity better than everyone else and earned this piece of silverware.

Undoubtedly, one of the players who deserves a lot of praise is Mo Salah. The winger had an end of 2024 and a beginning of 2025. During those months, the Egyptian looked unstoppable and would have been the clear winner of the Ballon d’Or had the voting occurred around that time.

When Liverpool needed it, he produced spectacular moments. Many matches saw LFC trailing, needing a second-half comeback to produce a result. Time and time again, Salah found a way. He provided the needed lift for his side. The Reds were crowned Premier League champions in large part due to his efforts.

Then, at the back, Virgil van Dijk patrolled the Liverpool defence in a way few other centre-backs could. Yes, he made mistakes at times. This is true of any player. Most of the time on the pitch, the Dutchman was a strong, solidifying presence on the backline. His leadership and ability to stabilise allowed the Reds to play in their style and go for it in the attack, knowing the excellent coverage he provides repeatedly.

Important Non-Tactical Liverpool Aspect

Part of what Liverpool needed to overcome wasn’t necessarily the Premier League competition but themselves. The looming contract issues for Salah and van Dijk were, until recently, something of a cloud that was over the club. This remains true for Trent Alexander-Arnold, who most expect to leave for Real Madrid soon.

Many were excited for a ‘Jürgen Klopp to Arne Slot’ transition. The most optimistic Liverpool fans could not have expected it to go this well. Dealing with contracts and not knowing if three stars would walk out the door mentally affects things. Granted, Salah and van Dijk have their future now secured with the club. The Reds boss still did an excellent job keeping his squad focused on the weekly task.

While speaking with BesteOnlineCasinoNederland, former Liverpool man Ryan Babel spoke on both players’ roles. He shared:

They are both very important players for the club, as the game is quite adapted to their footballing qualities. Just think of Van Dijk’s long balls, or Salah’s constant movements. I think they are both equally important.

In terms of balance, between the two mentioned players, LFC have two certified superstars in the attack and defence. Not only have Liverpool won this season’s Premier League, but Reds supporters will have to fancy their chances to remain competitive for the ensuing campaign. An Arne Slot statue may be premature to think about. It wouldn’t take too much more from the gaffer to have that be a strong consideration.
