Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney is reportedly on the radar of six clubs as a departure from the Emirates seems imminent. Tierney arrived from Celtic in 2019 and quickly established a place in the starting eleven. His performances met the manager’s expectations. However, frequent spells of injury cast doubts on his availability, and he started falling down the pecking order.

Kieran Tierney’s situation was exacerbated when Oleksandr Zinchenko arrived at the club. With Arteta choosing to favour an inverted full-back, Tierney’s chances of starting again slowly diminished.

After one season as Zinchenko’s backup, Tierney spent a mixed season on loan at Real Sociedad in 2023-24 before sustaining a serious hamstring injury while playing for Scotland at Euro 2024, which he is still recovering from.

Arsenal’s Left-Back Options

Arsenal have several options in the left-back position, including Zinchenko, Jurrien Timber, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Jakub Kiwior, and Myles Lewis Skelly. Kieren Tierney would want minutes under his belt, and with him potentially falling out of favour, a transfer away from the Gunners could be on the cards.

So far, no concrete offer has been made for the player, but six clubs have expressed interest in signing Kieran Tierney, including his former club Celtic (via The Mirror).

Aston Villa and Newcastle United are eyeing the Scottish player, while Girona, Sevilla, and Valencia are pursuing him to bring him to La Liga for the 2024-2025 season.

A transfer away could reignite his career, but what is Arteta and Arsenal’s stance here?

According to reports, Arteta still believes the 27-year-old could have a key role in Arsenal’s Premier League and Champions League campaigns; however, a concrete plan has not been finalized on how they plan to utilize him.

The defender’s current injury could prevent his departure, as there is no set time frame for his return to action. His injury complicates the current scenario, but it will be interesting to see where he will be by the end of the transfer window.

The Scottish international has two years left on his contract, and the Gunners will expect a fee of around £25m if they are to sanction his exit, which would represent a small profit on the £22.9m they paid for his services in 2019.

Kieran Tierney has made over 124 appearances for Arsenal in several competitions, scoring five goals and assisting 13. The 27-year-old is a strong left-back who can open up the opposition’s defence with incredible pace and pinpoint crosses.

The Gunner’s quest for a Premier League title

Arsenal has had an incredible start to their Premier League campaign, winning their first two matches. They will look to continue this winning streak when they take on Brighton at home on August 31st.
