The Premier League has entered the second half of the season with the usual suspects at the upper end of the table, some are beginning to pick up form and some surprising teams are hitting form at the top half of the table. Liverpool currently led the Premier League table by five points following the 4–0 win at the weekend away against Bournemouth.
Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez became the first player in the Premier League this season to score both 10 goals and record 10 assists in all competitions following his brace at the Vitality Stadium. Liverpool’s other two goals came from Portuguese forward Diogo Jota. The win kept Liverpool top of the table and restored their lead to five points whilst Bournemouth remained 12th.
Arsenal got back to winning on Saturday against London neighbours Crystal Palace whom they defeated by five goals to nil. This saw Arsenal gain their first win since December 17th against Brighton.
Arsenal left winger Gabriel Martinelli scored what was only his third and fourth league goals of the season, both within only three minutes apart in second-half stoppage time. Centre-back and fellow Brazilian Gabriel Magalhaes also scored twice for Arsenal earlier in the first half.
This win took Arsenal into third place in the table ahead of Aston Villa on goal difference whilst Crystal Palace dropped to 15th.
Saturday evening saw striker Ivan Toney making his much-anticipated return following an eight-month football-wide ban. Toney who was captaining Brentford against Nottingham Forest scored only 19 minutes into his return with a free kick.

Brentford ultimately defeated Nottingham Forest 3–2 and picked up their first victory since the beginning of December. This saw Brentford go up to 14th in the table whilst Nottingham Forest fell behind Brentford into 16th place. Sheffield United earned a point against West Ham United having twice come from behind to earn a 2–2 draw.
Sheffield United’s equaliser came deep into stoppage time through a penalty from Oli McBurnie scored 103rd minute. West Ham’s right-back Vladimir Coufal had earlier been sent off in stoppage time following two yellow cards in the space of only three minutes. This brought protests from both the West Ham playing and coaching staff.
The final Premier League game came on Monday night and was the most unsatisfactory and uninteresting game. The result saw Brighton and Wolves play out a goalless 0–0 draw.
This point took Brighton into 7th place in the table ahead of Manchester United on goal difference whilst the point kept Wolves in 11th. Sheffield United remain bottom of the Premier League table in last place whilst West Ham remain 6th.
