Girona FC's meteoric rise has caught everyone’s attention as it signals a shift in the dynamics of the league

The two Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid have been dominating La Liga over the past few years, their track record has fuelled the narrative that the Spanish domestic football league is a two-horse race between Madrid and Barcelona.

While clubs like Atletico Madrid, Sevilla, and Valencia have been able to pose a challenge to the giants, their prospect of lifting the title has slowly waned away as their attacking prowess and ability haven’t been able to match the two giants.

Girona Distinctive La Liga campaign

Girona is a team that has done the unthinkable as they currently hold the 2nd position in the league. While they have lost at home to Real Madrid, the club registered important victories against Atlético Madrid, Barcelona, and Valencia.

The club’s meteoric rise has caught everyone’s attention as it signals a shift in the dynamics of the league.

People would wonder how a club that has never won the league before has been able to become a potential title-challenging contender. The answer is quite simple as they focused on different aspects in their regular training that would turn their game around for the better.

These aspects are mental fortitude, consistency, willpower, drive, hunger, and physical prowess. These aspects have helped them unleash their innermost potential.

It will be exciting to see Girona lift the title as it would send a strong message to the other clubs however Real Madrid and Barcelona could turn the tide in the last minute hence it will be thrilling to see which club finally triumphs.

Girona’s form and style of play

Girona have won a whooping 17 games in over 23 matches where they have also registered 3 draws and 1 defeat. Real Madrid’s victory over Getafe helped them claim the number one spot In the League however it does not cast a shadow on the capability of Girona who have taken the league by storm.

The club’s style of play revolves around possession-based attacking, creating numerical superiority and retaining principles regardless of the opponents. They create goal-scoring opportunities with the help of their full-backs and wingers who occupy different channels in a bid to take advantage of spaces in build-up play.
