Will Ospreay seems destined for greatness in All Elite Wrestling. He has quickly shown the world how good he is in his first match for the promotion.

Ospreay’s signing was announced at Full Gear 2023. It was a huge shock at the time for fans of the English star. His deal with New Japan Pro Wrestling expired two months later, so him turning up seemed out of the question.

He rejected the advances of WWE before joining Tony Khan’s promotion, amid interest from all over. It was a huge statement from the Englishman.

Following a loss against David Finlay at Wrestle Kingdom 18. A huge defeat inside a ten-man cage match the month following. It seems the perfect time for the aerial assassin to walk away as a much bigger star than he walked into Japan as.

His time in the UK now over. A move to the United States is exactly what Ospreay needs to become the next big star in professional wrestling. Because of a holiday to Barbados, he will make his debut at Revolution in a huge match for AEW.

Will Ospreay will become a huge name in AEW

With his performance in his debut in AEW, Ospreay soon reminded fans exactly how good he is in the ring. His match against Konosuke Takeshita is already being talked about as the match of the year, and its only March!

He carried an ageing, weary Chris Jericho to one of his best ever matches at Wembley Stadium last year. Not long after wrestling a six-star match against Kenny Omega at Forbidden Door 2023.

This was just one of two six-star matches the pair had together. However, Ospreay also managed to have even more legendary bouts against stars like Tetsuya Naito and Michael Oku over the past year.

His 2023 was one of the best years any wrestler has ever had, regarding in-ring quality. Building on his fantastic year, 2024 looks to be no different.

Path to Championship Glory at Wembley Stadium

With Tony Khan deciding the main event of the second-annual Wembley Stadium show, it seems that new signing Ospreay will be the headline act in his home country.

Samoa Joe is the current AEW World Champion. It seems likely that he will drop the belt to Swerve Strickland before August. Ospreay will be the man to end that reign.

Many have predicted the main event of All In to be a Swerve Strickland vs Will Ospreay, which could provide us with one of the greatest matches of all time.

Both men are on the run of their lives. Swerve is putting on some of the best matches he has ever had in his career at the moment. His character work has come on leaps and bounds, with his feud with “Hangman” Adam Page showing a much darker side of the former NXT Superstar.

A feud with Ospreay seems the obvious move forward. The Aerial Assassin will be the perfect foil for the rapping star and could facilitate a face turn for the British wrestler.

Wembley Stadium should be the venue of Swerve Strickland’s demise, and the ascension of Will Ospreay as a World Champion in AEW. The pop from his hometown crowd would be deafening!

It would mark the first ever British world champion in All Elite Wrestling history (and only the second in major American promotions.)

Expect some more five-star matches and heated feuds from Ospreay in AEW at a bare minimum. It is likely we will see him put on some of the best matches of all time against stars like Kenny Omega, MJF and Darby Allin to show he truly is the Billy GOAT!
