After the abysmal performance by Chelsea at Goodison Park, many fans are calling for Mauricio Pochettino to be axed from the club, but what is their plan after that?
You look at the previous two managers Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter, who were doing a decent job but could not succeed, because of the team’s lack of ruthlessness in front of the goal.
Nevertheless, this seems to be the same old story in Mauricio Pochettino’s reign, despite the defensive frailties at the back.
In his press conference, the Argentine was adamant that the Club needed to do some serious work in the January Transfer Window.

Chelsea recruited 13 players this summer for a total of £400 million in the summer, but they should have learnt from last season, where they were creating chances, but not putting them away.
Hence it’s baffling that they did not go for a high-quality striker like Victor Osimhen from Napoli, rather just relied on the inconsistency of Nicolas Jackson, and Armando Broja.

Are they being pushed too hard in training, because most of the players looked knackered, and it was very evident on Sunday afternoon?
This is why even though Pochettino is severely under pressure, you have to question Todd Boehly and his recruitment process. Why did he appoint Pochettino in the first place?
Is he wanting a long-term project, and if so, what can he do to persuade Chelsea fans to be patient and stick with the process?
What kind of team does he want Chelsea to be? That is what has triggered the anger of Blues fans, who are used to seeing the team playing Champions League football, and challenging for the Premier League Title as well as the other three pieces of silverware.
Even though we saw the act of patience has worked for Mikel Arteta and Arsenal, Chelsea traditionally has not relied on patience, especially during the Roman Abramovich era.
And even though you are kind of seeing the same process under Boehly’s reign, things are getting even worse.
Another thing that the club have to keep in mind is the fact that Chelsea is still in the quarter-final of the EFL Cup, and they still have a chance of winning it, provided that they can turn their form around.

Also is it the right thing to sack a manager just before a Cup Quarterfinal, which is just over a week away?
If Newcastle win then dismissing Mauricio Pochettino from the club seems a fair enough decision, even though I would wait until the end of January to see what business the club does in the Transfer Window.
Even though Chelsea and Pochettino want to play free-flowing attacking football, maybe now is the time for Pochettino to go for the more cautious approach of switching to a back three and grind out some victories, just to keep his job intact.
The defence is In such a shambles that the team look like conceding one or more goals per game.
Can Pochettino turn things around for Chelsea, or is this the beginning of his downfall at Stamford Bridge?
